Which, of course, still reinforces the idea that being a rape victim isa crime which requires a pardon. All of these men–the so-called royal family and the stoneage Wahhabists, are nothing more than beasts.

Saudi king pardons rape victim: report

Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah has pardoned the victim of a gang-rape whose sentencing to 200 lashes caused an international outcry, a Saudi newspaper said on Monday.

The daily al-Jazirah cited Justice Minister Abdullah bin Mohammad al-Sheikh as saying the king alone had the right to issue pardons if it was in the public interest…The 19-year-old Shi’ite woman was abducted and raped along with a male companion by seven men last year in a case that has drawn criticism from around the world. [With the glaring exception of the American feminist establishment, as silent on this as they’ve been with the Sudanese teddy bear teacher case–ed.]

The Supreme Judicial Council last month increased the sentence to 200 lashes and six months in prison and ordered the rapists to serve between two years and nine years in prison…

If confirmed, the pardon would represent a rare occasion where Saudi rulers have publicly challenged Saudi Arabia’s hardline clerics, who have wide powers in society according to a traditional pact with the Saudi royal family.

It’s stunning how absolutely backward these Middle Eastern countries are. I am amazed at the support they continue to recieve from both the left and right wings of the USA political system. It may be a cliche, but it is all about oil. In the next few generations when we are (hopefully) free of our addiction to oil, these idiots can return to the sand and all that implies.

So, I guess now President Bush can reiterate how good our “friends” the Saudis are again. Maybe Laura can go talk to more burqa-clan women now too.

Then there was the story on Fox just before your appearance, Tammy, about the “honor killing” of a young Canadian Muslim by her father because she wouldn’t wear a hijab.

She wasn’t being punished for being a rape victim, but for being a married woman in a car alone with her ex-boyfriend. Surely this situation should not require punishment either. It is more accurate to critise the Saudies for this than punishing someone for being a victim.

No thanks to our Tex-Mex “Presidente” Jorge Wahabi Bush.

She should be grateful! If she had been shot at by drug dealer in the United States of GWB, she could have gotten 10 years in prison.

Where’s Jay Leno’s wife who is in one of the big women’s leagues that profess that they look out for women around the world…and Pelosi, Boxer, Feinstein, Gloria Steinem where are these gals? You would think that Hillary would jump all over this headline…

Tammy, when are you running for office?

Neither of these things has anything to do with Roe v. Wade and as such, has nothing to do with women’s issues in the minds of the feminist establishment.

At least, that’s the impression I get, I could be mistaken.

Tammy, surely you must still have connections in the national Feminist movement. What do these women privately have to say about this and the Teddy Bear incident? Of all the advocacy groups in the USA, the women’s movement has never been known for their lack of opinion. BTW, sorry if I called you surely.
