I kid you not. There is no other way to interpret Obama’s choice of analogy here, effectively comparing the exposure of Wright as an America-hating racist and the appropriate excoriation of the man, to the assassination of Dr. King. The following Swamp headline does get it wrong–the comparison is not of OIbama to RFK, it’s Wright to MLK, make no mistake.

Obama invokes RFK in distancing self from pastor

PLAINFIELD, Ind. – Sen. Barack Obama invoked Robert F. Kennedy on Saturday as he continued to try to distance himself from controversial statements made by his former pastor that are now widely circulating on the Internet.

“Bobby Kennedy gave one of his most famous speeches on a dark night in Indianapolis, right after Dr. King was shot,” Obama said. “He stood on top of a car.”

In reality, Kennedy, speaking in nearby Indianapolis on the night of April 4, 1968, spoke from the bed of a flatbed truck.

“He delivered the news that Dr. King had been shot and killed,” Obama continued. “At the moment of anguish, he said we’ve got a choice. We’ve got a choice in taking the rage and bitterness and disappointment and letting it fester and dividing us further so that we no longer see each other as Americans, but we see each other as separate and apart and at odds with each other…

Saying “the forces of division have started to raise their ugly heads again,” Obama began to point to his own former pastor from Trinity United Church of Christ on Chicago’s South Side.

“I have a dream”=”God damn America.” Great job Barack Hussein Obama. Great job and simply stunning. Let’s hope this is the beginning of the real Obama being exposed, and his undoing.

UPDATE:

Well, it seems Americans are indeed recognizing this for what it is, and rejecting Obama. His national lead among Democrats was 8 points yesterday. It has now plunged by an unprecedented 7 points overnight. Keep in mind, this drop is among his own supporters after a couple of days of Wright’s venom being exposed, and Obama’s credibility gap on what he knew and when he knew it. This highlights that despite our differences here in America, those differences are slight. Despite all our desire for change, Obama supporters also reject racist Hate America First rhetoric spewing from Barack Obama’s ‘spiritual adviser’ and mentor. Good for them.

Then Geraldine Ferraro can be compared to Joan of Arc.

If this is the guy who brought him into Christianity, Barack might want to go back to fueling rumors that he’s a Muslim.

“Rev” Wright (who makes the Reverends Jackson and Sharpton look like Tammy Peeps) is the Black version of Fred Phelps. And he is not just some pastor whose church Obama attends on occasion. This man is a second father to BHO, inseparable from his “campaign” because he is inseparable from the cause of the candidate.

But we are supposed to believe that although his deceased parents hated America, his wife hates America, and the man who inspired him to write his books and run for President hates America, Barack is the rebel of the family and loves this country that he wants to lead. Now at least we know the man behind the curtain.

Dr. King and Dr. Wright are exact opposites. The treatment of blacks in the south when Dr. King first emerged was worse than despicable. And yet he used strictly non-violent civil disobedience, in the pattern of Ghandi in India. Dr. King would not associate with any group that advocated militantcy or violence. Dr. Wright is a hate monger, with no acknowledgement of the enormous progress of race relations, building on the foundation the Dr. King died for.

That BO can favorably compare Dr. King and Rev. Wright in his own mind indicates a mental deficiency that should automatically exclude him from any job in which he has the power to affect other people, including any political office.

As much as I dislike Dr Phil McGraw and his cracker barrel philosophies and home-spun advice he does have one good expression when it comes to accountability. Something like “own your own baggage”. There is no “I take it back” when it comes to Jeremiah Wright and Bill Ayers. They have said and done what they have and it belongs to them. Now own it. It’s yours and out there for all the world to see.

As far as Obama, you are judged by the company you keep. It’s too late to hide or rationalize it away. Your secret is out – you’re a Democrat so be proud (or ashamed) of it.

What’s hilarious about Rev. Wright’s messages concerning the Roman Empire is the fact that several Roman Emperors (starting with Septimus Severusi in the 200s A.D.) were from…….

    ….AFRICA……

    PAT_S …

I think McCain should be courting Ferraro aggressively. Who better to call out hypocritical dems than a trailblazing woman who was destroyed by the same people she helped to create. I think she could be a HUGE asset to McCain (NY has a lot of electoral votes).

Yeah, the great man “Reverend Wrong” co-opted MLK’s famous phrase but improved to comport with “liberal” south side Chicago attitudes with “I have a God Damn Dream and it don’t include you Honkie Devils.”

As followers of Jesus Christ empowered by the Holy Spirit, true Christians say and pray “God Bless America,” and many are now saying and praying “God Please Help the US.”

However, the Holy Spirit of God would never inspire a true follower of Jesus Christ to say or pray “God Damn American” in any context, much less as part of a taped public sermon in front of children.

Holy Scriptures say to test the spirits (1 John 4:1). Reverend Wright obviously has a fiery spirit that is condemning at times, particularly when he curses our nation in public sermons. It is certainly not Christ-like or characteristic of the Holy Spirit.

Senator Obama apparently does not say or pray “God Damn America,” but the crucial point is that most of his life has trusted and tolerated this particular pastor. Although Reverend Wright is retiring, he will remain as Senior Pastor, and his replacement essentially agrees with him in spirit and truth, and Senator Obama must agree with him in spirit.

There is reason to not trust the spirit in which Reverend Wright said the things he said, and so there is reason to question the spirit leading the youthful Senator Obama as a professed Christian and prospective president of our nation. May God’s Holy Spirit be our guide.
