Oh brother. The only thing missing is a sequin-encrusted Cadillac.
Debbie provides the commentary on the system finally catching up to a ridiculous and corrupt man.
“D-Day” in Detroit: Thuggish, Pan-Islamist Mayor Kwame “The Kingpin” Kilpatrick Learns His Fate
This is probably the clearest illustration of the state of the left and Democrat Party.

Wasn’t this the mayor that early on in his administration provided a new Escalade for his wife to use and with public funds?
In reading about this mayor and his administration, it sounds like what happens when you have the gangsters running a town. The hip hop and rapp style of life doesn’t look good when the taxpayers are paying for the lifestyle.
Note that Malik Shabazz is heavily connected to this guy, the New Black Panther Party–supporters of Obama. Detroit is actually making Chicago politics look clean.
The system is catching up with the Super Pimp Daddy Mac Mayor
but he has not been convicted yet. Watch him beat the rap with a diamond daddy lawyer who will portray Kwame as a victim of racism and the system doing him wrong.
He will win re-election and then run for Governor . Why not ?
All this news lately has me thinking Charlie Manson may just get his Helter- Skelter after all.
I remember this plot. It is from a Starsky & Hutch episode. Something about Huggy Bear’s cousin visiting from Detroit…
I moved from the most famous of corrupt lefty states; New Jersey. Toledo, Ohio, just 1 hour south of Detroit, has been my home thanks to the most wonderful woman I have ever known. Unfortunately I can’t say anything remotely positive about all I know about Detroit and this thug mayor. I’ve read about him and worked extensively in his depressed city.
He is to blame, as are the socialist & racially depraved hacks who pander to the voting bloc. But the voters who are either stupid or prejudiced against anything but the status quo are mostly responsible for the condition of affairs there. This thug, Kwame, should never have been elected a second time. But you’d have to travel around this cesspool of a city (that can only compare to Camden NJ in it’s blight and hopelessness) to comprehend how a dirtbag thug like the mayor lasted long enough to get caught.
Shame on you people from Detroit. You got what you deserved.
Absolutely wretched. Thankfully he’s been charged with multiple felonies and is looking at serious prison time, and that’s all before any further charges relating to the possible stripper murder. And thankfully, too, the Wayne County jury pool reaches well beyond the Detroit city limits.
My pet peeve of the day as a prosector: too many people saying he was “indicted.” Maybe this is a media bias towards New York terminology, but in most states other than the original 13 (Michigan among them) grand jury indictment is an available charging mechanism but not required. Kilpatrick was charged by the DA filing an information, not presenting a bill of indictment to a grand jury. If Michigan’s like Florida, he’d be (or will be?) in WAY more trouble if he’s ever indicted: here that’s only required for capital murder.
The Mayor is obviously a dirtbag. But it should be noted, in pursuit of verifiable accuracy, that only Schlussel’s article mentions murdered strippers. It’s odd that the other articles don’t. Schlussel can be overeager, so we should check up on this. Some quick web research turns up this report and this report. The key point is that the dead strippers are not a hard story, and the details need to be nailed down before it can be regarded as fact and not just rumors.
Wait a minute. I was always told that it was only Republicans in the “Culture of Corruption”. They’ll find a way to blame it on the Republicans anyway, just you wait and see…
During Kwame’s first term I believe he had double the amount of security detail that mayors in larger cities had. And there was the revelation that he was cruising the hood in a Lincoln Navigator that was paid for by the taxpayers. And yet as the voters traveled passed the ruins caused by riots and poverty on their way to the polls, they re-elected this thug.
Urban blight is a term frequently used to describe the abandoned wasteland of decay in Detroit. Who can blame him for his hubris?
PS….more hubris to come I predict.
Oooops.
Bad link. Anyhoo, you can google images for urban blight + Detroit and you’ll get the picture(s), pardon the pun.
An uncritically thinking subpopulation is easily indoctrinated into a philosophy of apathy, criminality, and hate when under the tutelage of the likes of Rev. Wright, Jesse Jackson, and the liberal left. It’s empowering to believe that you are not responsible for your actions, everything bad is the white man’s fault (including criminal behavior), that you can’t make it in a racist society, America owes you, and that nobody has the right to judge black culture – even if it’s uncivilized. This, and a coddling social welfare system that reinforces the indoctrination, creates a subclass that embraces criminal black leaders. Hooray for the brother who spends the white man’s taxes illegally – as long as he maintains or expands social programs. The inner city doesn’t pay much in taxes, so those who elected him don’t suffer the consequences of their actions, they in fact love it. The tax paying suburbanites or the Federal govt. will step in and save the city.
To echo Infidel’s comments always remember when you see things like this (and you can throw the Spitzer mess into this as well): someone had to ELECT these characters into office.
Maybe one day people will wake up and realize that when you cast your vote, you gets what you deserve.
Michael Moore’s first film, before he got big (ha ha!), was Roger & Me, about the decline of Detroit. Of course, he blames everything on GM CEO Roger Smith, and he portrays the citizens as innocent victims of heartless big business. (I’m not suggesting the auto companies are above criticism, but the local environment is pretty decrepit in a self-inflicted way. Other cities adapt to the changing world and survive and thrive, like Minneapolis has done. But Detroit sits on its ass waiting for the car companies to come back.)
