well, I guess we’ve moved from the Blank Memo asking for a Blank Check actual Draft Legislation that actually has some substance. I have a tiny feeling the concerns of House Republicans (and therefore our concerns) have been somewhat weaved into the new bill. That’s a good thing, and frankly would not have happened without McCain’s intervention.

Bailout bill, once 3 pages, swells in length

A week ago, it totaled just three pages — the White House’s request for $700 billion to rescue tottering financial institutions by buying their devalued mortgage-related assets.

By Monday, after an intense weekend of negotiations, the draft of the bailout legislation before Congress had swelled to 42 pages.

By Friday, after almost a week of marathon talks between Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson and key lawmakers in both parties, the working version was up to 102 pages.

It likely will grow even longer as negotiators continue to tweak the proposal this weekend, adding and subtracting key elements.

This is good. After the debate McCain will return to Washington. What are B. Hussein’s plans? Probably another visit to the gym.

I wonder if the rain forest holds enough trees to make the paper that could hold all the pork attached to this impending disaster?

Am shocked about the pork in this bailout bill. What is it that some are actually considering giving money to ACORN? I do not like that one bit. Also wasn’t Obama the attorney for that organization at one point? What a mess!

Yeah, I guess we better bail these people out, since their greed/stupidity cocktail is going to bring us all down to an economic misery level not seen since the depression (or maybe the Carter end of the 1970s. The all important stupid question; who’s going to pay for this?
The dem’s could never in their wildest dreams hoped for better justification for taxing the rich. I hope the final draft includes a good swift kick in the a– for every lender responsible for this mess.

Barry Goldwater’s son was on FOX with Neil Cavuto. His final line was great: “Never let a dog watch your food; never let Congress watch your money”.
