Bill Clinton and Mati Kochavi, CEO of cyber security firm AGT International, were interviewed on CNBC Friday. During a corollary discussion on cyber security, the pants-on-fire perjurer Bill Clinton expressed an idea for authenticating truth on the internet. He thinks it would be a great idea to set up some kind of non-government agency, albeit funded by taxpayers, to scour through content identifying false information. Search results would then include a truthfulness measure, a credibility bar as Mr. Kochavi describes it.

Kochavi compares the idea to ingredient labels on food.

Clinton emphasizes it is imperative that such an agency needs to be independent, something like NPR maybe.

Clinton: Is there a way to have fundamental security of the things that deal with, let’s say, the survival of the state of Israel, the survival of the United States, the survival of Jordan, without being so repressive you’re basically trying to deny access to information technology to preserve autocracy?

Kochavi: We look at search engine companies or platforms and we say those are great guys.We forget there are two things. We forget that what motivates, what positions the result of the search on the top, it’s going to be advertising. What’s going to be algorithms and the algorithms that are looking for information are not based on accuracy, they’re based on popularism. They are saying, where is the most interesting site that most of the people visit and that’s what brings it to the top of the search. It’s like taking the tabloids and turning it to the front page of the Wall Street Journal. …Why can’t we have a credibility bar near every resultive search. OK, this information counts, because — because it was written by a great blogger or it was written by a 15-year-old person or it was written by a very serious person. When we buy food we have ingredients on the food. When we go to see a movie we have rating.

Mr. Kochavi is far more frightening than Bill Clinton in this interview. It seems to me Clinton was making up an answer on the spot knowing nothing of the technology involved. Mr. Kochavi has given the concept a great deal of thought and to the technology as well.

    As far as an agency that would monitor trends and “misinformation” on the web, I believe we already have one. It’s called TWITTER. I was just reading about who
    “owns your tweets”- interesting that Twitter says that YOU own them, but Twitter also has the right to do anything THEY want with them- hmmmm…
    Wasn’t the Internet invented for the sole purpose of monitoring what people are thinking? Google knows what EVERYONE is thinking about.Big brother is ALREADY here, I am afraid.

    This guy lied to +500 million people and has been impeached, yes I said IMPEACHED! Does anyone care about that, or does that word only apply to Nixon? Why are comments from this guy relevant? Anything the clintons or gores promote, people need to avoid. Its usually up to no good! The only thing he needs to watch and monitor… (I had to say that!)
