A genuine hero, God bless him and his family. Everything we liked about the George W. Bush administration came from this man, and I’m convinced he is uniquely responsible for keeping this nation safe and free not only during that time, but in all of his political work.

He’s also a good example why we need to fire Obama–so others can receive the kind of amazing medical care from advances made possible only in the free market system. Thank goodness he’s still with us 🙂

Former Vice President Dick Cheney said that “everything’s been marvelous ever since” he received a heart transplant one month ago, as he encouraged college students to sign up as organ donors.

“I’m feeling very well,” Cheney said during an event with students at the Washington Center. “I feel a lot of emotion that goes with that frankly,” he added of the transplant. “One is great gratitude to the individual whose family donated the heart that I was privileged to receive . . . I feel better in terms of my overall health than I have in a long time.”

Cheney said that he is an organ donor. “I’m an organ donor, I volunteered for that, he told the students. “It’s a kind of gift that’s unbelievable, what it makes possible.”

Vice President Cheney also had his first public interview in Washington today, see the video via C-SPAN.

Former Vice President Dick Cheney had his first public interview in Washington today since his heart transplant last month. He was the featured guest at the Washington Center. Cheney says he’s very fortunate and doing really well. In a Q&A session with C-SPAN’S Political Editor Steve Scully and student interns, Cheney offered this advice, “enjoy your time here and jump in with two feet.”

If Cheney really wants to encourage people to sign up to make their organs available (by the way, Tammy has expressed some trepidation about doing this (I think she was concerned about the Monty Python organ transplant scenario)), he ought to send a note of congratulations to President Obama for being a brain donor.
