It’s all a shellgame. And remember, being “covered” and having “insurance” isn’t the same as being able to see a doctor and get care. In the world as we’ve known it, the two normally go together, but not anymore. As the system collapses under its own weight and with fewer doctors and hospitals available, good luck seeing a doctor or getting the quality treatment we’ve come to expect in the best country on Earth. But hey, no problem! You’re “covered!”

Via Weekly Standard.

Tuesday morning, Secretary of Health and Human Services (HHS) Kathleen Sebelius announced on Twitter:

However, while Sebelius’s claim sounds like a sure thing (“will” get covered,) the accompanying graphic is somewhat less unequivocal, employing the phrase “can”get covered. But the truth is even one additional step removed. The HHS press release, which Sebelius refers to but does not link to, reads as follows [emphasis added]:

A new report released today by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) shows that 56 percent, or nearly six in ten of the people who don’t have health insurance today may be able to get coverage through the Health Insurance Marketplace for less than $100 per month.

I have a million dollar lottery ticket for sale. You may be able to purchase for 10 dollars. (I didn’t say it is a winning ticket or that I’ll even give it to you.)

It’s another slushfund/ponzi scheme just like Social Security and Medicare. I’m curious as to how people who are/were forced into being unemployed, not qualified to collect anything, are supposed to pay for “coverage”. At one time, there was talk of raiding people’s 401K’s and other retirement accounts(people who have them) to help pay. That “$100/month” coverage is the amount per day that small business owners will be fined if they don’t inform their employees about the exchanges. Chief Justice John Roberts needs to be impeached.

Review of new John Lott book on how federal judges are no longer the top tier law school graduates because of big government. Review example from book, Lillian BeVier who graduated at the top of her Stanford Law class, 1965. Nominated by G.H.W. Bush for Court of Appeals; the Senate Judiciary Committee Chair, Joe Biden, promised her a hearing and never held one.

And in tangentially related Obamacare news; 2 more Republicans left the House Working Group on Immigration Reform (originally 8, then 7, now 5) on Friday, same day as Obamacare defund vote. Reason they gave, is that the President can’t be trusted to faithfully carry out the law. While true, I tend to agree with Slate’s conclusion that establishment Republicans haven’t given up on amnesty, they just have concluded that running against a weakened 2nd term President is a better strategy. Regardless while not letting down our guard against amnesty, we should feel good that we are part of the reason for this development. http://www.slate.com/blogs/weigel/2013/09/20/house_bipartisan_group_on_immigration_reform_totally_collapses_because_barack.html
