A few months ago, Politico reported on a liberal organization, American Bridge 21st Century, and their plan to expand operations for the 2014 and 2016 elections. The group, according to their “mission statement,”

… is a progressive research and communications organization committed to holding Republicans accountable for their words and actions and helping you ascertain when Republican candidates are pretending to be something they’re not….

Political commentator Michael Kinsley once said that the definition of a gaffe is when you catch a politician telling the truth. That’s exactly what we plan to do….

And they plan to employ about 50 “camera-wielding” operatives, ready to catch Republicans making gaffes.

Never heard of ‘em?

Neither did I.

That is, until last week, when they got themselves a real live GOP gaffe:

Former Sen. (R-Mass.) Scott Brown, who may run for the Senate in New Hampshire, momentarily confused “Massachusetts” with “New Hampshire.” And, ohh! American Bridges caught it on tape!

As reported by Business Insider:

The liberal opposition-slinging group American Bridge spotted the comments and blasted out video of Brown’s gaffe late Thursday night.

So, American Bridge thinks this is a gaffe? Do they really want to play this game?

Because when it comes to gaffes, the Dems are true Masters of the Art.

Who could forget these gems?

And these:

According to Politico, American Bridge plans to have a budget of approximately $18 million for the next two election cycles.

But they’re really going to have to work very hard to come up with anything approaching the sheer stupidity of Dem bloopers.

Just saying…

Great post, Shifra. I had forgotten about a lot of these gaffes. Thanks for the reminder. It is ironic, though, that any of the Dems would want to play the “gaffe game”. They must realize by now that this can’t end well for them. But, what the hey…Let the games begin! May the best party win. 🙂

Enjoy reviewing all the gaffes by the smartest people in the room. Have never heard of American Bridge 21st Century. Isn’t their name somewhat of a gaffe? We’re in the 21st century. What does the bridge connect?

Regarding Scott Brown’s mixup, I do think it is a gaffe. Not on any national level, but on a local NH level. Many Granite Staters live uneasily with all the Bay Staters who have gone to live in Southern NH, especially from Boston. Even though they left Mass. because of the taxes, Democrats can easily play Brown’s statement as, they came here for the clean environment and now they want to bring dirty Boston politics. If Brown is nominee, could gain central and northern NH votes for Democrats without losing many southern NH votes.
