A Virgin Mary statue was decapitated and two other religious figures were vandalized at a Burlington church, and cops want the public’s help finding out who did it.

Burlington police detectives responding to a reported vandalism at St. Margaret Parish on Winn Street this morning found that two statues — which sit at the top of a hill on the property — had their hands severed and multiple sets of rosary beads removed, while the Virgin Mary statue near the rectory “had its head severed and both hands removed,” Burlington Police Chief Michael Kent said.

“This is a deeply disturbing crime committed against a religious institution in our community during a major holiday season,” Kent said in a statement. “We will undertake a thorough investigation and use all assets at our disposal to find those responsible and hold them accountable.”

Officials believe the damage was done overnight.

Anyone with information about the vandalism or who may have seen anyone suspicious near the church overnight are being urged to contact the Burlington police at 781-272-1212.

  1. Evil is on the march, it cannot stand anyone or anything diminishing it’s authority. It will continue to get worse as people begin to fight back against it. The darkness cannot stand the light and will do anything it can to extinguish it.
