HLN has apologized after censoring the pro-Donald Trump shirt of a retired New Jersey police officer who was hailed a hero this week for rescuing a baby from a hot car. “We blurred the logo and shouldn’t have; it was done in error,” a network spokesperson told The Wrap.

Steven Eckel, a retired New Jersey police officer, saved a life on Monday.
The 53-year-old smashed through a windshield of a locked car to rescue a infant girl, and he has been making the media rounds in the interim to describe his good deed.
In the interview, Eckel can be seen wearing a blue “Trump for President 2016” t-shirt, yet when the segment was re-aired later that day, HLN opted to blur the show of political support….

But for some reason whatever that sports team shirt he’s wearing isn’t censored. What about other rival sports fans who might be offended?
TV stations have procedures for dealing with profane words and disturbing pictures. Some TV manager said implement that process here. News Directors seem to have decided that directing the news presentation has no bounds.
Makes me think of Jimmy Kimmel’s goofy “Unnecessary Censorship”. (Example.)
