The Government Accountability Office spokesman said employees were surprised that their colleagues were potentially committing fraud.
Are any of us surprised?
Via Rollcall:
Five employees with the Government Accountability Office, and one GAO employee’s spouse, were indicted…for working to illegally obtain reduced-price lunches for their children….
The GAO, which notes on its website that it is often referred to as the “congressional watchdog,” investigates federal spending.
According to the news release, between 2010 and 2014, the employees’ children received more than $13,000 in reduced-price lunches.’’ Each employee was charged with two counts of welfare fraud, two counts of submitting a false application for public assistance and one count of a theft scheme, according to a copy of the indictment….
Oh … they are liberals and they’re okay! They scheme all night and they scam all day. Oh ….
This is probably only the tip of the iceberg. The snake rots from the head down. When they see fraud and corruption going on in other places in govt, they feel comfortable committing the same actions. If independent auditors would start peeling back the layers of govt spending, We the People would be outraged to learn just how badly we are getting hosed by this govt.
I work at a school out here in SoCal. I have seen the lunches.
Why would anyone want to make their kids eat that stuff? There is a reason why there is childhood obesity amongst those who partake in school lunches.
