Just when you thought CNN could not possibly sink any lower as a sleazy and irrelevant “news” site.
A CNN political reporter has come under fire for a tweet that appeared to be mocking polio survivor Sen. Mitch McConnell as he held hands with President Trump after a press conference in the Rose Garden.
The tweet by CNN’s Daniella Diaz Monday afternoon was posted along with a video of Trump guiding McConnell up stairs. It was captioned ‘That hand-lock between Trump and McConnell, though.’
Diaz’s colleague, CNN’s Senior Congressional Correspondent Manu Raju, weighed in writing ‘McConnell is a polio survivor, a reason why stairs can be tricky at times.’Raju added in ‘McConnell often goes up a step at a time, sometimes needs railing for assistance. This time, used Trump for balance.’
n 1990, according to Fox News, McConnell explained his medical condition in a campaign ad for re-election in Kentucky.
‘When I was a child and my dad was in World War II, I got polio. I recovered, but my family almost went broke,’ McConnell explained.
The polio vaccine was introduced in 1955, after tens of thousands of children developed paralytic polio every year….
That hand-lock between Trump and McConnell, though. https://t.co/xFClDYCmdQ

You're making fun of the President of the United States helping a polio survivor that stumbled. Stay classy CNN, stay classy.

Generally, I like to go easy on people who don’t know that a man or a child has an illness that commenter is not aware of.
Very nice of you, Alain41, but you missed the point: Even without knowledge of his polio, the fact that McConnell is 75 years old and has difficulty with stairs should be enough to warrant some sympathy, not mocking on Twitter.
Disagree. The reply tweets called out polio not age. I agree with any comment along the lines of, Hey, he’s 75.
Again, you missed the point. The CNN reporter has eyes, she sees that McConnell is an older man, she did not have to mock the “hand-lock” between him and POTUS. It was a kind gesture, did not need to be called attention to on Twitter.
Again, Wrong.
Have a nice day.
One last try. Her comment was a frat boy comment trying to get clicks. Fairly innocuous compared to many headlines & even some Trump tweets. However, when you add in that McConnell had polio as a child, it was out of place. Done.
