Fox Responds to White House Attack
by Pat_S on October 13, 2009A post by Pat The White House declared war on Fox News. Last night Fox responded. Journalists who were attack dogs against the Bush administration are at least raising an eyebrow over the White House statements. I think the concern is off the mark to criticize the administration for poor political strategy. The demographics of the Fox News audience are irrelevant. It isn’t an issue of differentiating news programming from opinion programming. This is a heavy-handed attempt by the government to suppress free speech. It is not a matter to be taken lightly when government attempts to intimidate news or opinion. Of all people, it is a T.V. critic who sees this for what it is. Of course a comparison...

Crossing the (clothes)line
by Pat_S on October 10, 2009A post by Pat For those who have hang ups about looking at other people’s laundry, be prepared for a flap. There’s a trend in the wind to override homeowners association rules in favor of making your whites greener. Debate Follows Bills to Remove Clotheslines Bans (links to NYT article) In the last year, however, state lawmakers in Colorado, Hawaii, Maine and Vermont have overridden these local rules with legislation protecting the right to hang laundry outdoors, citing environmental concerns since clothes dryers use at least 6 percent of all household electricity consumption. Florida and Utah already had such laws, and similar bills are being considered in Maryland, North Carolina, Oregon and Virginia, clothesline advocates say. There’s a lot of...

SNL: Obama’s Two Accomplishments–Jack and Squat
by Pat_S on October 4, 2009A post by Pat The Obamazombies are getting restless. Where once there was a halo there now is a cloud. It’s unfair to say Obama accomplished nothing. There is that porkulus bill. He warned that without it unemployment would be 8%. He was right, the bill passed and the unemployment rate is not 8%. It’s 9.8% heading towards 10%. Discontent is bombarding Obama from all angles. The One is The Zero. The world knows it and that is not such a laughing matter.

U.S. Immigration Agency Gearing Up for Amnesty
by Pat_S on October 3, 2009A post by Pat More overconfidence from Obama and a question of priorities: U.S. immigration agency girds for workload spike …Obama told immigration officials that a legalization program would be part of legislation the White House would propose. The U.S. government agency in charge of processing naturalization and residency applications is preparing for a surge in its workload if President Barack Obama pushes ahead with federal immigration reform next year granting millions of undocumented workers legal status. A spokesman for the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services said the agency is gearing up to handle the huge increase in applications expected if immigration reform is passed by the U.S. Congress. “This agency has been preparing for the advent of any...

Chicago Out
by Pat_S on October 2, 2009A post by Pat This is not the time. We are not the ones. NBC 5 Chicago News at 6:00 a.m. A bit too early. Chicago, Tokyo Out of Running to Host Olympics Chicago received a shocking first-round exit from the race to hold the 2016 Summer Games, becoming the first city eliminated when International Olympic Committee members cast votes in a secret ballot Friday. Chicago’s elimination came just hours after President Obama left Denmark following a brief visit in which he personally appealed to the IOC to choose his adopted home town, promising that “the city of Chicago and the United States of America will make the world proud.” Maybe Chicago should have sent ACORN.

Lindsey Graham thinks the government is his business
by Pat_S on October 1, 2009A post by Pat Glenn Beck, talk radio and the loudmouthed people are such a pain in the neck to Sen. Graham. Probably the Constitution as well. He thinks the government is his business. He dismisses base politics as though it’s childish, lecturing that we have to get out of our comfort zones. He is more than willing to work with the President to make his job easier. Lindsey Graham Hits Glenn Beck and Bill O’Reilly Graham lauded Mr. Obama for energizing young people and also engaging Hispanic voters, which he said Republicans had turned off with rhetoric on immigration “coming out of certain quarters of our party.” He said Mr. Obama had passed the “ready to be commander-in-chief test”...

The Brave Little Toaster – Israel And The Deadline On Iran
by Pat_S on September 22, 2009A post by Pat Bill Clinton was asked about Ahmadinejad on the Today Show this morning. He said Ahmadinejad would have been toast were it not for the mullahs. He said we really don’t know whether Ahmadinejad is just playing politics or if he’s actually a crazy man who will jeopardize civilization. It’s up to President Obama and Hillary to figure it out. No thanks, I’ll put my trust in someone else to figure that out since the administration hasn’t shown much gumption for facing down thugs. I’d say Prime Minister Netanyahu figured it out already. The September deadline set for Iran to resume serious negotiations is here but they have, as Charles Krauthammer expressed it, spit in our face....

Can you say “You deceive” in the House?
by Pat_S on September 16, 2009A post by Pat Isn’t it curious that there was more of a media debate about giving drivers licenses to illegals than about health care coverage? Where are the editorials and the Sunday show discussions about how mean-spirited and unfair it is to exclude illegals from health care? I would have expected to see more like this from E.J. Dionne. Wilson and Our National Character I am not at all at peace with the fact that the one issue about which a member of Congress chose to rise up and accuse our president of being a liar related to the charge that our chief executive wasn’t doing enough to build walls between illegal immigrants and health coverage. How mean-spirited will...

Glenn Beck Show Appearance Rescheduled
by Tammy on September 8, 2009My Glenn Beck appearance today has been postponed. The original plan was for Glenn to devote his whole show today to liberals and their indoctrination of kids using the school system. As you can imagine, with Van Jones quitting over the weekend their show plans changed. I’ll be on eventually, and will let you know as soon as it’s rescheduled.

Candidate Obama: “I know how to choose talent.”
by Pat_S on September 6, 2009A post by Pat In November of 2007, candidate Obama was asked about criticism that he was inexperienced. He replied, “I know how to choose talent and get smart people around me who are capable and independent…set a vision and move in the same direction.” He will chart a course, assemble the talent and mobilize them to achieve that goal. I’m feeling very inspired and full of a sense of possibility watching Van Jones whimper away. We see the course President Obama charted and hell no, we won’t go. Swimming better be one of the talents of his noxious assemblage because one by one they’re going overboard. Eh, if they can’t swim that’s even better. *UPDATE Now Van Jones, who...

Obama’s Healthcare Strategy
by Maynard on August 26, 2009A post by Maynard Some conservatives are saying we’ve dodged the bullet of nationalized healthcare. I’m not so sanguine. At least, not yet. Obama wants power over life and death of every American citizen. He wants this a lot. (This excellent Drudge-linked WSJ editororial notes that “White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said [Obama] was ‘quite comfortable’ with the idea that sticking to his agenda may well mean ‘he only lives in this house’ for one term.) Obama knows this is his best shot. It looks like he’s going to give it everything he’s got. A practical politician would work for incremental change. A practical politician, whether of the left or of the right, would be more focused on the catastrophic...

The Moon isn’t made of green cheese—or anything else green
by Pat_S on August 25, 2009A post by Pat One day the Russians and the Chinese may have laser weapons pointing at us from their moon base while NASA employees are enjoying cool breezes and natural light in their earthbound “green” building. The $20.6 million building near Moffett Field in California will be fancifully named Sustainability Base in homage to Tranquility Base on the moon. It’s more like a ludicrous mockery if you ask me. NASA gets ready for new green building NASA’s Ames Research Center is ready to begin construction of what is planned as the greenest building ever built by the federal government, a structure that will use state of the art sensors developed for space missions but also rely on the age-old...

Poster-Sized O’Joker Pic
by Tammy on August 17, 2009I have received a link from the person who sent me the original O’Joker pic to the original pic in poster size. You know, just in case someone might want it in poster size, say, for a march on Washington or something. Hypothetically. Around 9/12. Oh, and I’ve just been alerted that a single version may suddenly be available as well. Stay tuned to the same Bat Time, same Bat Station… UPDATE: Okay, here’s the link to a large single of the O’Joker poster, from the original pic. Hope you find this helpful for a doormat, a protest sign, or whatever. MAYNARD UPDATE: Here are quick links to commercial searches on keywords “Obama” and “joker”: CafePress, Zazzle, and eBay. There’s...
