The US Now Ranks 19th in ‘Social Progress,’ with Finland & Canada Topping the List
by Tammy on July 1, 2016The Obama legacy full steam ahead! We have an appointment on 11/8 to change the direction of this nation from down to up. Just saying. Via WSJ. The United States has fallen to 19th place in a global ranking of well-being, down three spots from last year. That’s according to the 2016 edition of the Social Progress Index, one of the most comprehensive international measures of well-being. America was eclipsed by Belgium, Spain and France in the past year according to the measure, which evaluates countries on their ability to provide basic human needs (measures of water and shelter), the foundations of well-being (measures of health and education) and opportunity (measures of equality and personal rights). The U.S. is the...

Andrew Breitbart Catches Another One
by Tammy on June 7, 2011It’s Bad Guy Weiner everywhere we look, but the real story is Good Guy Andrew Breitbart (again) and how the interwebtubes allow said Good Guys to prevail. The Lamestream Media is now going to have a hard time ignoring or dismissing Andrew–he has used the web to take down a variety of hypocritical or corrupt liberal footsoldiers–including ACORN, Vivian Schiller of NPR (who, btw, was hired a few days ago by NBC), Helen Thomas, and now Weiner. CNN has (no doubt begrudgingly) done a piece on Andrew referring to him as a “gadfly.” Heh. Some gadfly. We all owe a big Thank You to Andrew for being out there and willing to get in the left’s ugly face. Perhaps it’s...

Indiana Defies Feds, Will Continue to Defund Planned Parenthood
by Tammy on June 2, 2011Good for Mitch Daniels. No one else in the world listens to or cares about what Urkel thinks or wants, why should anyone else? The man is a menace, his administration’s policies are both incompetent and depraved, and if we’re going to stop the destruction, all of us have to stand up to the SOB. Now if only Congress would do the same thing. Background: Administration blocks Indiana’s efforts to cut Planned Parenthood funding Indiana Defies Federal Government on Planned Parenthood Republican Gov. Mitch Daniels signed a law in May that would cut off federal funding from Indiana clinics that perform abortions. The law is primarily aimed at the state’s Planned Parenthood clinics, which get federal family planning grants to...

Flags and Bumper Stickers
by Maynard on February 8, 2011A query by Maynard I’m not inclined to put out a flamboyant display. My natural urge is to keep a low profile. This makes for awkward feelings about public displays of politics or anything else. I salute the brave spirit of the person that drives a car like the one pictured on the right, but I hesitate to follow suit. Am I a coward, or just tasteful and discreet? Well, whatever it is, I bet a lot of you are in a similar situation. Aside from temperamental inclinations, there’s a degree of pragmatism here. Even if they’re not of a mind to destroy my car, I’d rather have strangers regard me as a blank slate. For example, if I ever...

Andrew Breitbart. Genius. That Is All.
by Tammy on September 20, 2010Buses to bring in union protestors: $500. Arts and craft materials for “Stop the Hate” signs: $250. Andrew Breitbart asking bused in protesters what those signs mean: Priceless. On Saturday, September 18th, Glenn Beck and Andrew Breitbart headlined an event entitled “Right Nation 2010,” held just outside of Chicago, Illinois. As you will see in our video report from the scene, when Andrew Breitbart arrived at the Sears Centre, he was met with an angry mob of protesters who were calling for an ‘end to hate’ while also hurling expletives and homophobic slurs toward the targets of their enmity. In the following dramatic video, Breitbart brings the protest to a complete halt by cleverly asking sign holders to do the...

DC Political Guru Predicts Democrat Annihilation in November
by Tammy on August 20, 2010Cry, Ewoks, Cry! Charlie Cook of The Cook Political Report, interviewed by the WSJ about the November cataclysm combined with a sandstorm which will sink the Titanic just before the tsunami hits. Democrats. In other words an excellent overview of what he expects to see in November, and why. (HT Hot Air). More tea please.

FDA Plan To Test Safety of Gulf Seafood? The Smell Test
by Tammy on August 3, 2010Yes, that’s right. Seafood from the gulf will be deemed safe if some guy comes by, smells it, and says it smells okay. Gulf seafood must pass the smell test That’s right. I can see this implemented in so many other ways. You go into an Emergency Room because you have chest pain. They’re jammed (it’s so tough to fit all those Spanish language interpreters in there!) and you walk up to the Obama DeathCare Assessment Desk. If you’re under 50 and look like there’s still some tax generating left in you, you get directed to take a number to see a doctor. In probably 6-8 hours (Hey! don’t complain, at least it’s the same day! Ungrateful peasant!). If you’re...

The Tyranny of the Dollar
by Maynard on July 24, 2010A rambling (be warned!) and maybe kooky but somewhat educational post on a few principles of economic theory by Maynard As Madame Speaker said, we’d know what was in the Health Control bill after we passed it. The other day, we learned the health bill augments the 1099 tax form to track gold coin transactions. This is another surprise attack in the economic war of the government against the people. You should know more about this war, since you’re in it. Some history: Until the Great Depression, Western nations were broadly on the gold standard. This meant that money equated to gold. Non-gold money existed as a matter of convenience, but it was not legal tender (meaning you weren’t legally...

Dare I Say The ‘Palin Democrat’ Demographic Is Growing?
by Tammy on April 3, 2010Not a surprise to us. For anyone involved from the beginning, we’ve seen this everywhere. (HT to @EdDriscoll over at Twitter). Disgruntled Democrats join the Tea Party Grand Junction, Colorado (CNN) — They are not typical Tea Party activists: A woman who voted for President Obama and believes he’s a “phenomenal speaker.” Another who said she was a “knee-jerk, bleeding heart liberal.” These two women are not alone. Some Americans who say they have been sympathetic to Democratic causes in the past — some even voted for Democratic candidates — are angry with President Obama and his party. They say they are now supporting the Tea Party — a movement that champions less government, lower taxes and the defeat of...

Morris: Call Swing Congressmen On ObamaCare
by Tammy on February 26, 2010The Dems are preparing to go it alone on ObamaCare, so we still need to defeat them the old-fashioned way. Dick Morris has a list of congressmen who voted for it the first time around but now seem to have been affected by the disaster of it all and become wobbly. Morris notes: These thirty Democratic Congressmen all voted for Obamacare the first time around. But Pelosi cannot count on their votes again as Obama tries to jam the bill through using reconciliation in the Senate. These members are all vulnerable and are frightened of the voter backlash their support for Obamacare has kindled. The League of American voters is running ads in each of their districts to press them...
