We all know how the Washington Elite, the Establishment Media and the Left feel about Rummy’s exit. Leave it to an English newspaper for the first half way decent article discussing the opinion of our troops on the ground in Iraq.

Troops fear Rumsfeld’s exit will end their Iraq mission

Troops expressed little pleasure at the departure of the man responsible for their protracted deployment to a hostile country where 2,839 of their comrades have died.

Indeed, some members of the 101st Airborne Division and other troops approached by The Times as they prepared to fly home from Baghdad airport yesterday expressed concern that Robert Gates, Mr Rumsfeld’s successor, and the Democrat-controlled Congress, might seek to wind down their mission before it was finished.

Mr Rumsfeld “made decisions, he stuck with them and he did what he thought was right, whether people agreed with it, liked it, or not”, Staff Sergeant Frank Notaro said. He insisted that Iraq was better off now than before the war.

Just prior to the election, troops made their feelings known that they support their mission and do not feel about it the way Democrats do as they sit in the suites at Capitol Hill. The American civilian position is very much like the troop position–we are not unhappy with the ideology that drives the mission, we are unhappy with the lack of focus and commitment to kill the enemy.

Unfortunately, that’s not what Dems and their moonbat base want. For them, it’s not about getting more aggressive, it’s about retreat. Pelosi understands this, and instead of listening to the American people (which she insists the president do after Tuesday’s elections), she has decided to declare the war in Iraq isn’t a war at all, but a situation. After all, you’re not cutting-and-running from a war if it’s not a war at all, now are you?

This New Speak, the frantic effort to change definitions, is a hallmark of the worldwide left. It is the primary way to control how and what people think–if you can’t persuade people on the merits of an issue, then erase the issue by redefining it, or pretending it no longer exists.

Navy Reservist here. While the troops have every right to an opinion, and I agree with them, we can’t let our opinions lead us to deviate from the lawful orders of the civilian leadership ultimately put in place by the people of the US.

My father, may his soul rest in peace, fought in WW2, where the United States and the allied forces achieved the greatest victory in history. He also fought in Korea, where he and General MacArthur were betrayed by politics. He also saw active duty in the earliest stages of Vietnam, and had to stand by later in life to watch his duty and honor diminished by politicians back home. Seemed simple enough… democracy vs. communism, good vs. evil. We still don’t have it right.

Now that Rumsfeld has resigned, it sure didn’t take lone for the left to run to Germany to prosecute him for “war crimes.” If Germany wishes to pursue this course in prosecuting Rumsfeld, I say we need to close all of our bases over there and redeploy every single American Military person there. After all, shouldn’t they be responsible for their own defense? Why are we there still?

That war was over long ago. Why are we paying them billions in dollars every year just to be there to be slapped around symbolically by them. Our presence there is producing more Nazis, even though our media doesn’t report on them.

After my tours in Viet Nam, I was stationed there from 1971 to 1974 and they didn’t like us then, long before either Bush was in office or our entry into Iraq.

We don’t need troops in Germany or Europe. We should redeploy “nearby,” and could always “rapidly re-enter” from elsewhere, if need be.

“The point is this isn’t a war to win, it’s a situation to solve. And you define ‘winning’ any way you want, but you must solve this problem.”

…..for all those republicans that voted Dem or just stayed home,to protest President Bush, you might come to regret your decision.

Well, Pelosi thinks that once we leave Iraq that all the terrorist will leave and go back to Afganistan, and we can get them there…just think, we can follow them back to Bin Laden’s cave…
