After quite a bit of time away from column writing, I’m back with a piece in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer. It focuses on the real meaning of the November election, or what I term the Death of Republicanism and the demand for a new Reaganistic Authentic Conservatism. Here’s a snippet. Please click through to PI for the whole piece, and in a few days I’ll the column available here on Tammy Blog. Hope you enjoy it.

Do the bums know why they were booted?

It has now been more than a month since the November election that threw a lot of bums out of office. On that day, voters ushered in the Death of Republicanism and demanded a return to Ronald Reagan’s Authentic Conservatism – small government, low taxes, an empowered free market, unashamed patriotism, individual responsibility and freedom, and a commitment to liberty at home and abroad.

We have yet to learn whether politicians understand that the election was a statement that Americans want an ethical, efficient, and small, pro-America government. That we want fresh ideas and fresh faces. That, despite the insistence of the left, we will not return to their good ol’ days of defeat in Vietnam. We are now better than that.

Well done Tammy. (No surprise.) Naturally, the Dems will never publicly admit to the reality of what you are saying. But the current Republican leadership needs to be hammering these truths home while they go about the business of (hopefully) transforming over the next 2 years.

You are such an important voice in this country. Nobody does it like you. I’m proud to be one of your readers and listeners. Thanks.

Your are almost 100% right; but not quite. True, the “leaders” of both parties missed the point – because the have their heads up their as*es, and did not want to get the point. Butt there were 21 new Regan men elected to Congress in Nov. All *Dems*! Headed by Ronnie’s Under Sec Navy. When Nancy tried to put Give Up Murtha in the #2 position in the party the party said very loudly *no*! ‘The lower level Democrats do understand what we said. It seems no one in the GOP does; or at least they all pretend not to.

The Democratic Party today is more conservative and Reagan like than the GOP. But not by much.. How any party can grow the government 63% in 6 years can look us in the eye an tell us “We are conservative!” is real Chutzpa! The GOP has become more liberal the any party since the Dems of the 60’s. And they intend to stay liberal as putting the liberal Senator from Fla in the party Chair show very well. They really think we are stupid; if they think any of us will believe they are conservative with Mel at the top.
