In one of the most stark examples of how disturbed our national priorities are, Border patrol agent Ignacio Ramos is being held in solitary confinement.

Agents Ramos and Compean turned themselves in last week to start serving 11 and 12 year prison sentences for shooting a feeling illegal alien drug smuggler. They have been, essentially, imprisoned for doing their job at an increasingly dangerous southern border. Ignacio’s father-in-law, Joe Loya was on Tammy Radio and now he has revealed the horrible treatment Ignacio is receiving in prison,

Border Patrol agent held in solitary confinement

“They have Ignacio in a 6 foot by 12 foot cell,” Loya told WND in a telephone interview from El Paso. “There are no bars, just a steel door, and no window. He has no television and nothing to do. He is fed in his cell and let out only for one hour after 23 hours in the cell. He is then taken to a room with a television where he is allowed to watch the TV for an hour before he is returned to solitary confinement.”

Loya said his daughter met with her husband for an hour on Friday. “Ignacio was heavily shackled,” Loya said, “and he could barely hold the telephone to speak.” […]

Ramos and Compean are in federal prison today, after they were ordered to jail by U.S. District Court Judge Kathleen Cordone. Cordone dismissed the defense argument that the two Border Patrol were no “flight risk” while they were waiting appeal. Judge Cordone also denied Ramos and Compean’s request for a new trial after there were reports that three jurors said they were coerced to vote guilty.

And this as the drug smuggler who received immunity to testify against our two agents is out, living his life, and no doubt trying to figurte out how to get another 800 pounds of drugs into the country.

    How do you spell “travesty”?

Sounds just like Moussaoui’s prison conditions. I recall the press saying at the time it was a fate worse than death for Moussaoui. Human Rights watch said it was inhumane. In tonight’s State of the Union address Bush said we needed comprehensive immigration legislation so the border patrol could get back to things like catching drug smugglers. Unbelievable!

(Typo: I think you mean “fleeing” not “feeling”.)

I don’t understand the solitary confinement order. Was that the judge’s doing? Or because it’s a federal prison? My dogs get treated better than that.

If Bush wants to save himself, he should start here with pardoning these brave young men…

    What happened to this country?

Anyone can answer…I don’t care who…I would REALLY like an answer from Pelosi or Kennedy on why this even got to court…

What is happening to these men who were doing their jobs, is simply a signal to others who might be so foolish as to emulate them. If you don’t understand what is going on just think about it. Follow the money. Its real simple; but then it can’t be can it, since no one believes in conspiracies on this side of the Atlantic…

So where is our President with a pardon? Still waiting… He won’t I’m afraid because he’s lost his way!

this is an outrage. i’m going to email the white house with the following message:

“I am an independent voter from a blue state who has steadfastly supported President Bush in his war on terror. I am one of the “28 percenters” who still supports the President. But if these border agents are not given a pardon in this matter, it will show me I was wrong about President Bush and I promise in the future to either vote Democrat (if I cana find a palatable candidate from that party) or not vote at all.”

Right on! Last night I got a call from the Michigan Republican Committee asking for money. I flipped out and gave the caller a piece of my mind. He kept arguing back. Same old same old – vote Republican because the Democrats are worse. He wasn’t going to give up. He said if not $100 how about $50, $25, $10? I said ZERO and hung up on him.

Regardless of guilt or innocence, its the message. What else could we expect with LULAC pulling the strings at the RNC, the whitehouse, and the AG’s office? Full pardons, now. Until that happens, move them both into the “party-prisons” that are for the politicians and wall-street types. Golf, tennis, or movies, anyone? The patriots are in prison, and the real criminals are in politics…shameful.

Just a hint for all of you who donate to the Republican Party. Send your donation in pesos.

It is easy to do, just ask your bank to give you one dollar’s worth of pesos. Send them. Point made.

That is so unfair! These guys were doing there jobs for like 10-12 years. It’s not like they didn’t know what they were doing!
President Bush should pardon these gentlemen!
They don’t deserve to live in such harsh conditions. A 6 by 12 foot cell and 23 hours in there at a time, that’s basically torture!
