Northwest Airlines apologizes to Hajj pilgrims
Northwest Airlines apologized on Wednesday to 40 American Muslims who were barred from a recent flight to Detroit, but denied it discriminated against the group, which was returning from a Hajj pilgrimage.
Northwest said the pilgrims failed to check in one hour before their transatlantic flight from Frankfurt, Germany, to Detroit was scheduled to depart, as is required. The passengers arrived in Frankfurt via a charter flight from Mecca, Saudi Arabia, and mistakenly believed they were cleared to board the Northwest flight, but were not.
“The passengers were accommodated on the next available flights to Detroit,” Northwest said. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused the passengers.”
The January 7 incident was taken up by the Council on American-Islamic Relations, which welcomed the airline’s apology, but said the group wanted clarification and compensation.
Really now. At this point, these demands for “compensation” are really starting to sound like organized extortion. At the very least, the collective airline industry should file acomplaint with thew DOJ asking for an investigation into organizations and foreign nations who support and fund these demands for “compensation” from airlines that are simply applying the most basic of security rules.
Northwest has just been crossed off mt list of airlines to patronize.
Compensation? NO! For not following or deliberately flaunting, the rules, NO compensation.
As for clarification, Northwest should clarify that these 40 are cordially refused service in the future, and encouraged to start ‘Hajj Air’, if they want. Period, and then back it up.
Gosh yes, this is extortion. And therefore far from some PC profiling discrimination, Northwest may legally refuse them service based upon their prior attempt to extort cash.
Now, isn’t that simple? But just watch NWA cave.
Boy, if that kind of treatment warrants major compensation imagine what kind of claim service monkeys could expect. Specially trained monkeys, like dogs, are classified as service animals to help handicapped people. This is from the TSA manual on how to handle these monkeys.
