How nice. President Bush wants to make sure the nihilistic, hypocritical Left in this country feels good about itself. He should take note, however, that Dems were elected in November not because of Dem power, but because conservatives are unhappy. The fact that he seems more concerned with what the moonbats think seems to confirm that President Bush is ending his term more concerned about being liked by noisy MalNars than he is with doing right by this nation.

Bush reassures Democrats questioning war is not unpatriotic

President George W. Bush addressed the issue most on the mind of Democrats in the U.S. House of Representatives, saying Saturday deep divisions over the Iraq war need not bring anyone’s patriotism into question. “You know, I welcome debate in a time of war and I hope you know that,” Bush said in opening remarks at the guest speaker at a retreat that drew about 200 legislators to a Virginia resort.

He said disagreeing with him about the war – as many in the room do – does not mean “you don’t share the same sense of patriotism I do.”…

“These are tough times but there’s no doubt in my mind that you want to secure this homeland as much as I do.”

Ah, Newsflash for the president: No they don’t. And after reassuring the Dems of their goodness, President Bush then proceeded to bend over, and then, outrageously, told Democrat lawmakers, that the war was “sapping our souls.” Lovely.

Bush makes bipartisan appeal to Democrats on key issues

President Bush, reaching out to some of his strongest adversaries, appealed directly to House Democrats yesterday to work with him to improve the immigration system, limit the cost of Social Security, curb the consumption of gasoline, and balance the federal budget.

Visiting the Democrats’ annual retreat for the first time since 2001, the president told lawmakers there are “big things” they could accomplish by working together and sought to defuse any bad blood with self-deprecating humor…Bush opened his public remarks with an allusion to his tendency to mispronounce the name of the rival party by calling it the Democrat Party, seen by many party activists as a calculated insult. “I appreciate you inviting the head of the Republic Party,” he said to laughter.

According to some Democrats present, Representative Susan Davis, Democrat of California, asked Bush about her concern that the military is fighting a war without the rest of the country sharing the sacrifice. Bush said he disagreed with that proposition because the war is psychologically draining for the entire nation and, according to Democrats there, said it is “sapping our souls” in some ways.

Last time I checked, not defending ourselves and looking away when others suffered is what saps our souls. Not allowing our military to fight saps our souls, and not killing the enemy saps our souls. If President Bush was not controlled by political correctness and multiculturalism, we would have finished the job in Iraq years ago. Instead, he demands the greatest military on Earth behave like the Salvation Army on a mission to be liked.

I can also tell you, if he had made the same kind of effort to reach out to conservatives during the past 6 years, as he is doing now to the Left, he could have forstalled the Death of Republicanism, which at this point is what he’s going to be remembered for. That, and while allowing the Iraq War to drag on, bringing back Jihad Jane.

Unfortunately, he seems to be again looking into someone’s [OK, I’ll say it: The enemy’s] eyes for some semblance of a soul; indeed, seeing things where they do not exist. I’ve concluded that George’s biggest fault — and we all have them, eh? — is that he’s WAY too ecumenical. These are not such times. Another brilliant post, Tammy.

What is it about our poor President that compels him to “make nice” with all enemies foreign and domestic? Our troops are stuck in Iraq with stupid rules of engagement that won’t let them simply win this thing and leave and our President wants to “get along” with people that hate him here in America! Good grief!

The most unreassuring thing is that none of the “Inside the Beltway” Republicans seem to have any idea of what happened in the last election and why, and further, are unable to deal with it from a positon of strength and confidence. The sappy, shallow groveling by those Republicans is enough to make you vomit.

I’m now convinced we were invaded by aliens (of the space kind) somewhere along the line and the President’s body has been snatched. Condaleeza must have been in the vicinity at the time as well.
