As both Fox and CNN carry the Anna Nicole Smith body custody hearing live, other things are happening which directly affect your life and the future of this country. They’re happening quickly and quietly.

In just another example of how the letters after politicians names don’t mean a thing, John “Lettuce” McCain, who believes Americans are too lazy to do field work, or it’s a job beneath them (a little projection there Senator?), is in bed with Teddy Kennedy (it’s a very large water bed, btw), and illegal alien lobbyists drafting a new amnesty bill. Here are some details:

Senate illegals bill near complete

Senators and lobbyists are putting the final touches on a comprehensive immigration-reform bill that includes an easier citizenship path for illegal aliens and weaker enforcement provisions than were in the highly criticized legislation that the Senate approved last year.

Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, the Massachusetts Democrat who ardently supports citizenship rights for illegals, will introduce the bill as early as next week, according to Senate sources knowledgeable about the negotiations. If the Senate Judiciary Committee can make quick work of the bill, it could be ready for floor action in April.

Mr. Kennedy drafted this year’s bill with help from Sen. John McCain, Arizona Republican, and outside lobbyists. Mr. McCain and the outside groups share Mr. Kennedy’s support for increased immigration and leniency for illegals already in the country.

Among the most active participants have been the Essential Worker Immigration Coalition (EWIC) and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. Both groups support giving current illegals a path to citizenship and increasing the flow of foreign workers into the country…

One of those e-mails obtained by The Times invited Democratic immigration staffers to a briefing in early January with “key stakeholders” to discuss workplace-enforcement provisions. The invitation listed six such “stakeholders,” including the chamber and EWIC. The other groups attending the meeting, according to the e-mail, were the American Civil Liberties Union, the National Immigration Law Center, the National Council of La Raza and the Service Employees International Union.

Yeah, And why do they need to ‘make quick work’ on the bill? Because the Democrat Party majority literally hangs by a thread–controlled by the still incommunicado Senator Tim Johnson. His staff does not want anyone to see him, despite claims of recovery and that he is “reading bills.” But still, as they move him from the hospital to a rehab center, they do not want any photographs. Gee, I wonder why?

In addition to their fragile hold on the Senate (by one, who is literally mentally disabled), they know that ’08 is unpredictable. They also have a president who is on their (McCain/Kennedy/Illegal Alien Lobbyists) side.

Lovely, isn’t it? They know this is not what we want or support, but they have such contempt for you, they just don’t care. They, you see, know better than you. They see votes, and they see cheap labor for business. They see a new slave class, which is something diamtetrically opposed to everything this nation now stands for. As soon we get more information about this bill, I’ll have it for you. In the meantime, call your senator and let them know what you think of any sort of amnesty, or rewarding illegal aliens with citizenship, or the creation of a new slave class with the so-called guest worker program.”

To reach your senator call 202-224-3121. Ask for their office (and they’ll tell you who your senator is if you don’t know) and ask to speak with the senator. Odds are, you’ll be refused, but then leave a message with the staff person. You can also ask for their fax number and put your position in writing.

Hi, Tammy. The Washington Times reports the rest of the group invited to help create this bill includes LaRaza, the ACLU, and the SEIU. I think McCain and Kennedy just handed Calderon a pen, a blank check, and said, “write whatever you want”. Seems as if the bank robbers are writing the rules regarding bank “security”. Still, it is nothing but amnesty. Funny, I notice only pro-amnesty, open borders groups were invited, and Republicans were excluded from the meetings, not that I consider McCain to be a republican, anyway.

[Excellent point Jeebie. I’ve added that to the main post–ed.]

  3. Links about those involved in this push here. Those with access to Teddy Kennedy et al should consider asking them about those they’re involved with.

One EWIC member is FirstData, current or former owner of WesternUnion, which makes money when IllegalAliens send money home. They have links to various unsavory characters such as PollyBaca, JuanSalgado, FernandoGuerra, etc. They also funded TomTancredo’s opponent after he merely considered taxing remittances.

Two other members are TysonFoods and the U.S. CofC.

The ACLU has an indirect link to the MexicanGovernment.

    The NCLR funds extremists.

And, the SEIU has deep links to the organizers of the ImmigrationMarches. They even paid one organizer when he took a “six-month leave from his job to organize around immigrant rights full time”. That organizer also serves on an advisory council to Mexico’s president.

Anywhere “reform” is promoted, please try to ask the promoters about all those questionable links.

The weird thing about the attempts to deal with illegal immigration is the way all the branches of government consistently do the opposite of what the supermajority of citizens want and expect. At the local level, we get things like “sanctuary cities” and “Special Order 40” and state-funded tuition for illegals at our universities. At the national level, we get amnesties and persecution of border agents and refusal to build a fence or enforce existing laws. What exactly is going on here? Obviously I don’t really understand the issue, because I don’t understand why this problem is so insurmountable, and yet it goes on and on and on.

I’m not someone who would describe myself as a conservative (more socially liberal, fiscally conservative) and don’t fit well into our two-box political system. I really don’t like the politics of lots of enforcement-only politicians (e.g., Tancredo) on most things. I vote for Democratic politicians more than Republicans.

That said, I find the arguments against ‘comprehensive’ immigration reform to be persuasive. In a recent article, Mark Krikorian noted a statement by Karl Rove that he didn’t want his kid picking tomatoes or some such (I forget the details), and then made an argument about how this sort of thinking was fundamentally un-egalitarian and un-American, and how wrong it was to think that honest work, any honest work was somehow beneath the dignity of Americans.

He also argued, among other things, about the pernicious effects of creating a large, non-voting, poor underclass (which a guest-worker program would do). Unchecked immigration also hurts (mainly) Mexico (some other places, also) because the their economy depends so heavily upon the income from immigrants that they are not forced to fix things at home. It’s a losing proposition for everybody except for those who seek ultra-cheap labor, and probably a bad one for all in the long run.

While contacting my senators (Feinstein, Boxer) on this issue is more or less a lost cause, I agree that people should oppose broad reforms until the recently-passed enforcement provisions and be sure to let their elected officials know it.

    Thanks.

Hey now, believe me, the Anna Nicole circus DOES affect my life substantially. Of course, that’s probably because I actually work in the Broward County Courthouse.

This hopefully, will eliminate McCain from contention for any conservative nomination. We would probally have better luck with Diane Feinstein, as she will occasionally view the pubic opinion. Also in view of the majority party in the Senate, Libermann is considering switching if funds are cut for the troops. Meanwhile Arnie is pushing for free medical care for the liberated illegals. (free for them guess who pays?) The classical Democrats who would “ask not what your country can do for you” have been over-run by Jackson (Jessie or Janet) Democrats of “what have you done for me lately.”

Yet another example of the instability of McCain that makes him unfit to be President.

McCain loves working with crackpots like Teddy. Remember his work with Feingold. Feingold is an authentic loon. Tammy thanks for your analysis on John McCain over the past few weeks. As a Republican I have assumed that McCain would be the logical choice to get the nomination next year but after reviewing this idiots past more closely I would prefer many other Republicans than this nitwit.

Re: the comment above about there being a poor, non-voting underclass (from Mark Kerkorkian’s article).

My biggest fear is that there has been a real effort (that Republicans failed to do anything about) to have the illegals vote and that with Republican losing numerous state legislative majorities and governorships, there is no way to put the genie back in the bottle so to speak.
