I’m in the midst of Tammy Radio right now, but I at least wanted to start up an Open Thread for those of you who want to comment on the announcement today that O’Donnell is gone. I’ll have more shortly, but I’m sure some of you have pithy things to say 🙂

I’d be happy about this except that they’re probably going to get someone more “moderate” to replace her like Cindy Sheehan.

It must be nice to be able to say no to a multi-million dollar three-year contract, but Rosie can. And she can do it in a country run on Judeo-Christian principles, not Islamic ones. In another life, Rosie would be quickly buried up to her neck in the dirt and stoned to death.

I used to respect Barbara Walters’ reporting. Barbara Walters is the loser here.
Darn. . .she wasn’t fired. Silly me, I was surprised by one clip of one of Rosie’s Rants, and what Rosie was saying was absolutely wrong–Rosie wasn’t just spouting her opinions, her information was just factually wrong. And Barbara just sat there. Knowing Barbara’s news background, I was appalled she didn’t say anything to correct her. I know. . .what was I thinking. . .this is mainstream TV.
Oh, this calls for a celebratory martini! I’m going to enjoy a much need reprieve from the lunacy of this woman, even if it is temporary. I’ll make a prediction, though…she will not resurface with her own syndicated program anytime soon as many are suggesting. I think there are circumstances that contributed to her leaving that we’ll never know about.

Rosie isn’t the problem, she’s merely a symptom. She’s a deranged lunatic (this is not an ad hominem remark; I’m speaking clinically), and it’s a disservice to the national dialogue to encourage such people to spout off in public, except in a venue that is understood by all to be a freak show. So her departure is no occasion to applaud, because the problem — that is, the respectability of that which is contemptible — persists.
The reason why Barbara Walters should lose everyone’s respect on this is as BNKPET pointed out, while La Ballena mas Gorda sat there spewing whatever the Hell nonsense popped into her head, Barb sat there like a mummy.
Very similar to the mother that lets the child run around screaming, torturing strangers on the train because she doesn’t want to stunt the child’s “creativity”. Which is also why man created the “clandestine extended-foot trip”.
“The View” is a waste of a time slot in itself. I can think of a more productive show…it involves Tammy Bruce. Now that would get some real ratings!!!!!
Is it wrong that I did the ‘happy dance’ as it was announced? Now I do like the idea of Tammy as the host..then again, I would love the idea of Tammy maybe doing a little guest spot opposite MS. O, OHhhhhh, talk about Happy Dance!!!! Don’t let the door hit ya in the butt on the way out Rosie; then again..

Upon hearing of Rosie’s imminent demise I arranged for a Munchkin ensemble to sing a rousing chorus of “Ding dong, the Itch is dead… the Ick-ed Itch is dead.” (The consonant deletion being their demand, in an attempt to preserve their careers.)
But it all became moot when, in her final moments, Rosie ate all the Ding Dongs. AND the Munchkins!
In my humble opinion, Rosie is a problem and her departure is an occasion to applaud. Regardless of the spin, Rosie’s exit was eminent. At least in her case, that which is contemptible was not respected, it was terminated.
