Sound familiar? It’s all the left can do in whatever country they inhabit. They cannot win elections on the merit of the issues because they have no vision. They cannot persuade people because they have no ideas. So, they resort, as the always have, to the politics of personal destruction and demonization.

The American left have been implementing here and continue to do so. And now the French see what a vapid, visionless socialist campaign led by a woman must do–she cannot elevate herself, so she strives to pull her opponent down.

Socialism is a disease that destroys countries by sucking the very life out of the people. Let’s hope the French reject this sickness.

The demonisation of Sarkozy

Ségolène Royal intensified a desperate final effort yesterday to tar Nicolas Sarkozy, her presidential opponent, as a dangerous tyrant whose election would threaten the peace of France.

Ms Royal, the left-wing candidate who is about four points behind the conservative Mr Sarkozy in polls, denounced her opponent for the “great violence” and “brutality” of a campaign that she maintained was frightening away voters.

She will use a critical television debate with her opponent tomorrow to contrast her “France at peace with itself” with Mr Sarkozy’s “France of the hard Right”.

Ms Royal’s line of attack, five days before the country goes to the polls, was amplified yesterday by aides and supporters. In the latest torrent of anti-Sarko vitriol, 100 stars of the arts and sciences declared that “Sarkozy embodies a hard radicalised Right . . . with all its fears and hates. Entrusting the presidency to a demagogue like this means real danger.” […]

A CSA poll on Sunday found that 65 per cent of French people think Mr Sarkozy “solid” compared with only 24 per cent for the Socialist. Yet only 29 per cent find him likeable, compared with a 57 per cent rating for Ms Royal.

The Socialists set out to demonise Mr Sarkozy months ago, according to Eric Besson, a senior campaign official who defected after falling out with Ms Royal. “Since we had a weak candidate, it was the best path to take,” he said.

Just a little projection there on behalf of the left. Non?

The problem we have here in the US is that the Right currently has lost it’s voice and unless we find it soon leftists like “herself” who are true believers that they know better than we are going to sweep into office in ’08. With a democratic congress and Hillary in charge and 2 or 3 Supremes ready to retire, hang on because it’s going to get very ugly here!

So Sarkozy’s election would threaten the ‘peace of France’, as Ms. Royal puts it? Good!

Only a Socialist Dingbat could consider the current defeatist mood, violence against Jews and their properties, betrayal of the free world and those who suffer under Islamofascism, high unemployment throughout her country, following the edicts the EU and UN, random destruction of vehicles and stores, creating enemies and division where none are warranted, and aiding terrorists as a sign of the ‘peace of France’.

I guess resorting to being an ’empty suit & skirt’ is the new sign of being a ‘strong woman’, too.

If this chick wins, expect her to be Ms. Royal-Pain-In-The-A**. I truly hope the French people will wise up and rise up.

I’m kinda torn on this. On the one hand I’d like Sarkozy to win, but on the other, I’d like France to continue its downward spiral – let them elect Royal – so they can learn the hard way that selfishness (socialism), cowardice (embrace of Islam), and political correctness (mush for brains) will bring down a society. If Sarkozy is elected, he may save them from utter disaster. If so, lefties will pine again for the romantic socialist, anti-american system – like the left do in this country. Too ignorant to see things out to their logical conclusion, utter failure of France’s ideology may be the only way the left will see the light, so let them elect Royal. Who am I kidding? they’d of course blame America and continue to drool over their utopian fantasy. There will always be fools.

Think of this: the breakdown is about even between Royal and Sarkozy. France is what, 20% muslim? And 15% crazy communist idealogues? Put all of them under Royal. That leaves like 15% for the young, brainwashed, and stupid (outside of the previous 35%). The remaining 50% will vote for Sarkozy. The parallels are apparent within our own society.

I agree with HU. All of this sounds vaguely familiar. In an uncomfortable way…

I agree too with HU, and I add, that maybe this time USA won’t bail out France?

Very frightening how some folks just don’t get it, even when they see rock bottom biting them in their behinds.

“His doctrines of radical economic reform and individual responsibility — never before aired by a senior French politician — have been welcomed by many as a revolution, but cast by opponents as divisive, cruel and unFrench.”

No wonder the leftists are so upset. Sarkozy’s talking about “individual responsibility”. Can’t have that, now, can they? A common thread that binds them all, no matter what the country.

Apparently he isn’t concerned with ‘being liked’ and, therefore, isn’t bending over backwards (or forwards) in an effort to get along with the lost and misquided left. Only time will tell if he will maintain this posture. In the meantime, I wish our own President would take a cue from Sarkozy and make the most of the time he has left in office. I’ve lost any real hope of that ever happening, but a girl can dream… .
