Sen. Ted Stevens (R-AK), time to go

As far as I’m concerned, every single corrupt elitist in Washington needs to be booted, and fast. The letter after their names has become irrelevant. It is pretty obvious to me, however, that corrupt Republicans and the corresponding scandals helped to cement the 2006 Democrat victory. Foley. Delay. Cunningham. Ney. Need I say more?

The latest to be investigated is the senator from Alaska, Republican Ted Stevens, believed to be on the take for quite some time. Dealing with politicians on the take, especially Republicans, means that side of the aisle, which has at least been a bit more helpful on issues involving the war and illegal immigration, won’t be so vulnerable in ’08. Let’s get rid of as much of the stink now so it won’t haunt us when the chips are down.

FBI Searches Home of Alaska Sen. Stevens

The FBI and IRS have searched the home of Republican Sen. Ted Stevens in a ski resort in Alaska as part of an investigation into his links with an oil-services company, officials said on Monday.

“The FBI and IRS are conducting a court-authorized search warrant in Girdwood, Alaska,” an FBI spokesman said in Washington, but gave no further details…

Stevens is the subject of a grand-jury investigation into his links with managers of VECO Corp., the state’s largest oil-services company, as well as numerous unrelated fisheries matters.

In May, Bill Allen, then the chief executive of VECO, along with a vice president, Rick Smith, pleaded guilty to several federal corruption charges. The two admitted paying over $400,000 to bribe Alaska lawmakers.

Allen had been a financial supporter of Stevens’ campaigns and a partner with him on a race horse. He also oversaw the a project to remodel Stevens’ Girdwood home in 2000, vetting bills and construction work.

    Tammy,

You are spot-on with the booting of corrupt politicians in Congress. We (The Public) have allowed corruption to take hold of our government and last for too long. It is time they go and political affiliation does not matter.

    Thanks,
    Chief

Ted Stevens ranks at or near the top of politicians who give the GOP a bad name. He needs to go even if he isn’t a crook (although it seems pretty clear he is). And Alaska’s new take-no-prisoners clean-government governor, Sarah Palin, could be guaranteed to replace him with somebody decent when he goes.

  3. Please resign, Ted! It’s time to cross that bridge.
