Those human shields, btw, are children.
The world should have a rule: if you’re inside a so-called “holy building” but you have guns, are holding children as human shields, and have threatened to kill people, the “holy” part of that building is null and void. Just an idea.
Oh, and the “cleric” in charge of the terror was also using his own mother as a shield. As one would expect, she’s dead and he’s not. Surprise.
Children run for life from radical mosque in Pakistan
ISLAMABAD, July 10 (Xinhua) — Some 20 children escaped from the compound of a radical mosque in the Pakistani capital Tuesday during firing between the militants in the mosque and security forces, the military said.
“Twenty children have managed to escape during the fire. An intense engagement is going on with the militants,” said military spokesman Major-General Waheed Arshad.
A major operation was launched early Tuesday against the hardline militants in the defiant Lal Masjid mosque in the Pakistani capital after failure of talks, the military said.
Loud explosions were heard after the operation launched. Children running out of the mosque are with the troops now, local TV quoted the military as saying. Maulana Adbul Rasheed Ghazi, the defiant cleric still inside the mosque, claimed that his mother was killed in the operation.

If only American forces could act as the Pakistani forces did here! Notice how the kids were released when the terrorists realized their ploy wouldn’t work? Terrorists must be attacked with no holds barred. Using innocents as shields would immediately stop if it ceased to work. In fact, civilians in homes taken over by terrorists would fight the terrorists rather than die as a shield. Civilian populations would stop harboring them. Terrorists would be shunned. A few innocents may die, sure, but I’d rather that than countless innocent American soldiers.

It was a gutsy move, and it payed off. (There’s that pesky “just kill the enemy” idea rearing it’s silly little head again.) Whatever his true reasons, I hope Musharraf will run with the momentum gained in his decision to (finally) aggressively and decisively move against the radical, islamic terrorists of the Red Mosque. I’m sure there are plenty more where they came from.
I wish I were shocked, but I am not. The ray of hope as was mentioned is that finally the Pakistani’s are stepping it up, and doing what must be done. They do not treat their holy sites with respect, they use them for evil. I agree again with helpunderdog (great post help), it is time we took the example of the Paks; I can’t believe I said that! Carry on..crush them, no matter where they hide..
I find it comforting that people are starting to finally get what is happening here. People are starting to see through the lies of the press and moving through the fog of propaganda and seeing what we are really dealing with. There can be no peace anywhere on this planet as long as there are people that will sacrifice not only the lives of the most innocent amongst us but any life. Only the most insane of peoples want war. This is a great example of those that truly want war. By the way, they aren’t american and aren’t in our administration.
