Speaking of women 40+, let’s have one, shall we? Here is Milena Kanakaredes, one of the stars of CSI: NY. While I love the original CSI, I occasionally watch this version of the franchise just so I can get my fix of this woman. Hot. She turned 40 this year.

Grrrowrrrr

UPDATE:

Here’s an exchange between Perry and myself in Comments. I think it’s worth posting here on the main page because of its relevance to the nature of how women are viewed, and the importance of the intent of the viewer, the issue of political correctness, and frankly, the absurd, misdirected rejection by some gay women of anything viewed as ‘of men.’

Having grown up in the 50s and 60s, knowing I was different, but knowing nothing about my being gay, then accepting my lesbianism, I find it hard to take when gay women look at beautiful women with their tongues hanging out as if they were red-neck men.

I think women, straight or gay, look beautiful and sexy in tuxedos and suits and I don’t need to behave like a man looking at a hunk of loin to appreciate it.

And my response:

Responding to Perry:

I really appreciate the Comments you’ve posted here, but I do want to chime in here, as I’m a little confused by your comment. What part of this post, the admiration of a beautiful woman, regardless of her sexuality, equates to “tongues hanging out”? I suppose I used to subscribe to the idea that it was too politically incorrect to appreciate classically attractive women, and to recognize them as such. I grew out of that as I realized my resistance was more about my own confidence, self-esteem and fear issues. For me let’s just say that ended quote some time ago.

Being a lesbian, for me, doesn’t mean only noticing or admiring women who embrace an androgynous or non-feminine look. I also happen to like all women, whether or not they subscribe to my particular worldview, sexually or otherwise. I would suggest to you that you realize some can appreciate beauty without objectifying the woman who’s blessed with it. And men have not been the ones who have decided what is beautiful. There’s nothing ‘feminist’ about ignoring the obvious and the natural. The ‘decider’ is nature. There is a universal understanding of beauty which I have gone into great detail about on my radio show. As a simple example, I think we would be hard pressed to find any human being, from the Amazon tribes, to the African continent, through Europe or Asia, who would consider Angelina Jolie ugly.

While you and I may be different in what attracts us, I would suggest you might consider that you’re projecting a bit of your own concerns about how *you* view women when suggesting that when others admire a woman they’re being animal-like and objectifying her. If you have concerns about what drives you, address them, but don’t project your issues onto others.

I have found a great freedom in appreciating women in general, expressing that appreciation, as I celebrate women for all of their qualities, *including* the gift of beauty and the embracement of femininity and health. Women like Kanakaredes, or Jolie, or Lena Headey, whom I thoroughly enjoyed in “300” last night, work hard to look their best. The real crime would be to not notice or refuse to appreciate them for the visual gift they give all of us out of some misdirected rejection of what you think *men* like. Sheesh.

So, the word for you at least for the weekend is: R-E-L-A-X. Political Correctness has no place here, which means there’s a heck of a lot more honesty and genuine freedom. Have a great Sunday. I just may even post *another* Babe for the Weekend, this time perhaps with Headey as Queen Gorgo. 🙂

Oh, and I just checked–it’s physically impossible to growl with your tongue hanging out.

  1. Beautiful. I’m a sucker for dark featured women.
One of my favorites, Alexandra Hedison, just recently turned 38 and gets better looking every year!
I keep hoping for a remake of Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea and with luck they will tap Alexandra to reprise her father’s role as Captain Crane, just this time as Capt. Leigh Crane

Kanaakawhat? Someone should tell her about stage names. Purty though.

She’s Greek. I’ve learned how to say it, just in case I’m ever needed.

Funny – you occasionally watch CSI:NY for the same reason I watch America’s Newroom every Monday morning at about 10:20 ET. Talk about HOT.

  5. gritster says:

I remember watching her when she played on Guiding Light….WOOOF !

I remember her on Providence, a guilty pleasure my mom, sister and I would watch on Friday nights.

Now Perry, I promise I’m not being rude… BUT Tammy, ya think we could ask Milena to put on a tux or a suit for us? That would be hot. I might even wear a dress for the occasion! J

    (No autographs, please!)

I think we would also be hard pressed to find any human being, from the Amazon tribes, to the African continent, through Europe or Asia, who would consider Angelina Jolie sane. But that’s completely OK, too. 😉

    [LOL!–ed.]

Tikos Melina baby!! She’s been on my list for a while now. I’ve said it before if you post a pic of Leeann Tweeden I promise she will go to the top of most people’s list. When it comes down to it, Tammy still rocks!!!!

  12. Senrab says:

I don’t like Angelina Jolie’s looks at all.

    *runs out of thread*

  13. WolvenBear says:

    She’s over 40?

She’s atill insanely gorgeous. And for the record I thought she was 30…tops.

  14. stacie says:

I am married, and whenever I see an attractive woman, and I am with my husband, I always point her out. I like attractiveness…and pretty, and sexy and all adjectives that describe the varied attributes of both sexes. I think if anybody gets a second look or a nod from the same sex or opposite, they appreciate it. And anyone that doesn’t at least admit to liking it, even just to themselves…is not to be trusted.

  15. AmeriDan says:

    Perry,

Sorry to pile on, but your statement begs for my view.

As a man- and a redneck- I am insulted by your use of “red-necks” and “men” to describe women being treated as “hunks of loin”.

    That is an Islamic thang!

Sure, there are rednecks that don’t treat woman right, just like there are lesbians that don’t treat woman right. And women that don’t treat men right. Etc. and on and on.

What’s your hang up with rednecks? Also, this site promotes women and their/your issues far better than you have by posting that comment.

TAMMY, I am a long time lurker, but had to comment on this. You have a wonderful site here.

P.S. Hi TUA, see ya at KisP!

  16. PeteRFNY says:

I must confess to not being a huge fan of Jolie’s “look” either, Senrab…but I run from no one. You may hide behind me!

Kanakaredes on the other hand is classic beauty in the highest order.

BTW Tammy – CSI: NY has become the standout series in the franchise, best cast (Sinise, Kanakaredes, et al), best scripts, bar none. CSI Vegas has become too dark and muddled, and CSI Miami continues to become a cartoon cutout of its’ former self. Pick up Season Two on DVD (when the show hit full stride) and see if you don’t agree.

  17. Floyd R. Turbo says:

I agree, Tammy. She’s, indeed, beautiful. Remember her from Providence, I think the pilot. She got home from work and did a very nice undressing-sequence before stepping into the shower. Absolutely lovely. She’s 40? Doesn’t look it at all. Classic beauty. I echo the growl…and add a “wag wag, woof woof”!

  18. Floyd R. Turbo says:

Oh, just thought of something else. The beauty of her name: her name just flows so rhythmically off the tongue!

  19. CarpeDiem says:

    KAN-AH-KAR-EE-DEES (sounds like)

  20. Carpediem says:

    Hello Jim,
I’ve been out of town and was just catching up on my Tammyblog reading and noticed that a Carpediem posted a comment on 8/22 @ 6:02.
That’s been my name but I did not write that. What to do ? Thanks. Teri
