The rumors and innuendo reached the point that Sen. Barack Obama’s campaign launched a new Web Site this week, fightthesmears.com. It first denied the “whitey” claim, stating, “No such tape exists.”
Mrs. Obama made her first public appearance Friday since these hubbubs arose, and the campaign made sure she had a nice, soft landing. She introduced her husband to about 40 elderly people at the Oakleaf Village retirement center in Columbus, Ohio…
She quickly tied the anecdotes to her husband’s theme of the day, retirement security. Her mother can help so much, Mrs. Obama said, because of Social Security and her late father’s pension benefits.
What? With the $4 million she and her husband made last year one would think she should be paying for a nanny, and treating her mother to a Mediterranean cruise! But here’s the kicker…
In her four-minute speech, Mrs. Obama also burnished her patriotic credentials, which have come under attack from various critics. The Tennessee Republican Party aired a video of her saying earlier this year that her husband’s candidacy made her proud of her country “for the first time during my adult lifetime.”
Mrs. Obama told the elderly audience that her daughter, Malia, “will be 10 on the Fourth of July. Yes, we planned it that way. I cooperated. I was supposed to have her on July 1, but I waited, because my daughter would be more historic.”
Which is why, I’m sure, she made Jeremiah “G-damn America” Wright her spiritual mentor. For crying out loud.
Just remember, and focus:
Al Gore bragged about his grandson Wyatt being born on the 4th of July. He did Michelle one better, however, when he mused to the Latino crowd that if he has another grandchild, he hopes the birthday is cinco de Mayo.
Selecting their birthday is right in line with selecting all aspects of the pre-born.

Oh good grief! I suppose she made the decision on a swiftboat during the Vietnam war while transporting special forces over the border into a country we should not have been in under the orders of a president who wasn’t yet in the white house. And the special forces guy gave her a hat which she has to this day, and it was seared, seared, into her soul, along with the sniper fire she dodged at an airport, and perhaps she named her daughter after someone who climbed a mountain, but not yet, because they haven’t climbed it yet, and…
Come on. How likely is it that a family that is as just about as far left as one can get would even think about holding off a birth so that it could occur on July 4th?
