Obama in Baghdad to meet with US commanders

BAGHDAD (AP) – A U.S. Embassy official says Barack Obama has arrived in Iraq where he will meet with U.S. commanders and troops in a war he has long opposed.

The Democratic presidential contender is expected to meet Gen. David Petraeus as well as Iraqi Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki while in the country, although aides provided few details, citing security concerns.

Obama arrived as part of a congressional delegation that also includes Sens. Jack Reed, D-R.I. and Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., following stops in Kuwait and Afghanistan. All three are longtime critics of the U.S. involvement in the war in Iraq.

Four months from the election for Commander-in-Chief and he just now shows up? Last time was in 2006? Sounds like he’s been in real close contact with the folks on the ground, … NOT!

I find his visit to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Europe, and the media’s portrayal of it, quite interesting on many levels. Sen. B. Hussein Obama has already deemed his policy on the U.S. presence in Iraq has “we” should have never been there in the first place [biggest mistake since VietNam] and all combat troops should be brought-home immediately [his stance since early 2007]. Yet the media portrays his firmly stated policy and this trip as the nuance of nuances; Sen. Lieberman had it precisely correct on the Sunday morning interview.

Obama is troubling to me on many levels …

Barry-Boo will probably return from his world tour and meet with Michelle, Ayres and Bodin. They’ll probably light up a fat-boy and laugh at the military.
I’m holding the American public (“Americana” on my blog) in greater contempt that he does. In one way for the same reason he does; they swallowing him. In another way, from a different point of appreciation; they’re swallowing him.
Great to live in a country that issues so many sheepskins. Too bad we pull them over our eyes.
