Yes, it’s still out there, and yes, more proof of how the government continually lies to us about the situation regarding our food supply and our “friends” to the south.

Before Salmonella Outbreak, Disease-Ridden Mexican Peppers Repeatedly Stopped at Border

Federal inspectors at U.S. border crossings repeatedly turned back filthy, disease-ridden shipments of peppers from Mexico in the months before a salmonella outbreak that sickened 1,400 people was finally traced to Mexican chilies.

Yet no larger action was taken. Food and Drug Administration officials insisted as recently as last week that they were surprised by the outbreak because Mexican peppers had not been spotted as a problem before…But an Associated Press analysis of FDA records found that peppers and chilies were consistently the top Mexican crop rejected by border inspectors for the last year…

Since January alone, 88 shipments of fresh and dried chilies were turned away. Ten percent were contaminated with salmonella. In the last year, 8 percent of the 158 intercepted shipments of fresh and dried chilies had salmonella.

On Friday, Dr. David Acheson, the FDA’s food safety chief, told reporters peppers were not a cause for concern before they were implicated in the salmonella outbreak.

Corrupt, incompetent liars. What has happened here is criminal. Americans are dead because the FDA is both useless, but I argue deliberately refused to name Mexico as the culprit because of our government’s concern for Mexico has eclipsed it’s concern for our own citizens.

    All over America, gardeners shrug.
“Bad peppers, you say? That’s a shame!”
We didn’t stop eating tomatoes either.

Just more politically correct groveling from our so-called leaders. Living in San Pedro (Los Angeles Harbor District) I am contantly reminded that our health department here doesn’t give a sh*t about us.

Street vendors here are are more common than dog poop. Last week a vendor selling “Illote” which is corn on the cob dressed with margarine, cheese, pepper, and Mayonaaise rolled by me as I sat on my porch. Anyone who eats these bombs is risking their life.

When the vendor who was selling these things opened up the Mayonaiise jar to dress the corn I could smell it from a half a block away. They don’t have a clue as to what refrigeration and safe food handling is. The same goes for the Tamale (pork and beef in the Sun ALL day) vendors who never seem to end.

I wonder who is gonna have to get a fatal case of Salmenella poisoning or E-Coli to get these vendors stopped.
