Realizing the experience issue isn’t going to fly, the EM is feverishly painting Sarah Palin as a chillbilly religious weird-o extremist. By so-doing they tell us more about media biases than they do about her.

Although she is no longer a member of the Pentecostal Church, this CNN piece suggests her Pentacostal past, which they clearly think will be off-putting, is deliberately being kept under wraps and leaves us to make inferences. They quote her former pastor who thinks her religion is being downplayed by the GOP because :

“I think there may be issues of belief that could be misunderstood or played upon by people that don’t know.”

That would be CNN. They are being careful about it but would like us to be left with the impression that the person who could be a heartbeat away from the Presidency might be subject to sudden glossolalic seizures although she has never been seen speaking in tongues.

The last few paragraphs of the piece finally tell us what we need to know about Sarah Palin.

Pastor: GOP may be downplaying Palin’s religious beliefs.

Palin has done little while in office to advance a social conservative agenda. She told the Associated Press in an interview in 2006 that she would not allow her personal beliefs to dictate public policy.

“I’ve honestly answered the questions on what my personal views are on things like abortion and a lot of controversial issues,” Palin told the Associated Press. “I won’t hesitate to answer those questions about what my personal views are, but I am not one to be out there preaching and forcing my views on anyone else.”

Sounds good to me.

What the MSM is doing is attempting to establish (by back-door methods) a religious litmus test for public office. Like global warming, certain religious views (such as criticism of evolution) are now considered the domain of backwards hicks if not downright sociopaths.

Interesting how the same MSM told us that Rep. Keith Ellison’s Muslim faith was none of our business, and that even mentioning it was “proof” of Islamophobia.

Sarah’s comments about NOT forcing her views on others is perfect and, what I look for in a politician. We each have our own construct of the world made from prefabricated parts we accept or reject, from things we experience first hand and from things we imagine. Each person is unique.

I do not wish to practice religion as she does nor force her or anyone else to adopt my model of the world. The real KEY here is that she finds spiritual strength from hers and, NOT at my expense. I cannot say the same for Black Liberation Theology and the Nation of Islam which BLT endorses.

Wow, she has the lowest body fat percentage of a Pentacostal woman I’ve ever seen.

And for as long as she’s been a hockey mom and worn the now famous “lipstick”, she hasn’t been a Pentacostal; they wear no makeup.

I would never mistake Sarah Palin for Tammy Faye.

Jerocat, I’m with you. I was waiting to see what she had said or would say on that subject.

I can respect that completely. And I feel many conservatives are exactly like this. Hence, way more tolerant than liberals are.

Dennis Prager brought up a good point about this as well on the radio this morning: since Biden is Catholic, how come we don’t hear the MSM talk about the “disturbing” belief they have that Communion is actually the Body and Blood of Christ and not just symbolic as many non-Catholic Christians believe?

See, if this is all they got, I’m not really impressed.

It’s funny how the tolerant multiculturalists are always ready to heap their disdain upon anyone who believes in the God of our forefathers. It’s clear to me that the Bible has stood the test of time, and we’ve become better people as we’ve taken its lessons to heart, and the abandoning of God allowed the evil secularist philosophies of the 20th century to murder tens of millions of people. But these modern fools go to universities that venerate Communists and Socialists and third-world clowns and murderers, while they sneer at the structures that brought us civilization and prosperity. The ingratitude of mankind is endless. But of course religious people already know this; it’s in the Bible (I’m thinking of Exodus in particular, and the freed slaves and the god of gold — but there are plenty of other examples).
