Here’s part of his excellent speech in Albuquerque today. Finally, classic Straight Talk Express pulling no punches. There’s too much at stake to not tell it like it is. Oh, and I especially enjoyed watching Cindy’s reaction to the speech, just off the right side of the screen. 🙂

And in the meantime, some interesting poll news. Hotline’s latest tracking poll, while it still have McCain behind Obama, he now leads Barry in the handling of the two key issues–the economy and energy.

Diageo/Hotline Tracking Poll: The Early Line

Obama/Biden 47%

McCain/Palin 41%

Undec 10%

After closing in on Obama’s lead yesterday, McCain has now taken the lead on handling of two key issues. The GOP nominee holds 43-42% leads over Obama on both the economy and energy policy — McCain’s first leads on handling of the economy since 9/10 and first on energy policy since 9/23.

This is Brilliant!! This is exactly what Senator McCain must do! Please stay the coarse and show how much of an empty suit Sen. Obama is!

Heard parts of this on Hugh Hewett’s show today.
I also was fortunate enough to hear Sarah Palin speak on Saturday at the Home Depot Center, where she attacked Obama’s association with Ayers.
I hope that this is a start of a real effort to bring Mr. Obama to task, and force him to answer some questions about himself.
Once this happens, especially in the two debates, the media will have to follow up. Keith Olberman and the folks at CNN, excepted of course.

    Go, Johnny, Go!
Man; I hope it’s not too little too late. We so badly need for McCain/Palin to kick Obama’s butt next month.
    *gulp*

Call me crazy, but I think the key to the economy lies in Palin’s Energy Policy. I just heard about, how, in Alaska, all Alaskan residents, and their children, got a refund for $1,500.00 from the oil companies. Is that true? If so, how did she do it? I think Palin needs to sit down, perhaps in a webcast, and explain Energy to the public, and from the very beginning. She says she comes from a long line of teachers, so teach us !

You know, Biden and Clinton did an extended webcast on YouTube. I’m thinking maybe Palin and Lieberman could do the same, where she could really go in-depth and explain how energy works, how it all began and how she managed to do it in Alaska. I’m clueless on anything Energy, and she seems to have these innovative ideas.

Who wouldn’t want to receive $1,500.00? and that’s in addition to a tax refund !

If McCain/Palin could explain how an innovative Energy policy could save the economy….that could be the key. Let Obama attack a plan which gave Alaskans $1,500.00 for each citizen and his/her children !

I’d really like to learn more about this.

I keep thinking that this could be the

This is exactly what McCain and Palin need to continue to do. Keep up the pressure by raising questions about Obama’s shady associations. The Press can only cover Obama’s tail for so long before Obama will have to start doing some answering himself.

  6. N_Campbell says:

Maxine, here’s the simple and short answer. The state of Alaska collects royalties from the oil companies for any land-based drilling. The state government then turns around and hands that money out to residents.

My office is full of Obama supporters, and only the most hard-core environmentalists wouldn’t like to see that policy applied to Louisiana, considering the number of land-based natural gas deposits here.

What a powerful speech! Now THAT’S substance! I know we’ve all wanted McCain to speak like this for a long time, but I honestly believe he put it off as long as possible because unlike his opponent, he does not enjoy having to do it. He doesn’t share Obama’s mean-spiritedness. He is bringing these things up because those in the media who SHOULD have, haven’t, and someone HAS to do it.
Personally I would like to see less focus (from Palin) on Obama’s individual associations, and focus more on the broader picture that comes to view when you tie them all together.
Obama may repeatedly denounce these characters’ particular actions and comments……..
I’ve never heard him repudiate their views.

  8. LtDan says:

Oh BTW, the Obama “fight the smears” site says the Obama-Ayers link is “exagerated”.

He is running for President of the U.S………

THERE SHOULD BE NO LINK to Marxists, Black liberationists and domestic terrorists!!! (And those are just the ones we know of SO FAR)

  9. marleed says:

Here’s a link to the text of McCain’s entire speech.  I wish he would have delivered this speech weeks ago!  And I hope the McCain that gave this speech is the one that shows up at the debate tomorrow night.

  10. Ripper says:

Wow Maverick really hit it out of the park. Too bad he now cannot now use those lines in the next debate particularly the one with the “Chicago politician” zinger.

If only he’d been making speeches like this all along…!

My ten cents on what McCain needs to do tonight is posted on my MySpace blog (http://www.myspace.com/peterfny) – didn’t want to take up valuable Tammy space by posting it all here!

I live in AK. We get a share of monies invested by the Permanent Fund Dividend folks. It is based on oil revenues over a 5 year span. This year the PFD check was 2000 +/- per person. In addition, we received a one time (so far) energy check of 1200. This was given to help us with our costs of energy (oil/gas/electricity). Do a google for PFD Checks for more information.
