He is so post-racial and post-everything else that he doesn’t need to worry his pretty little head about having a cabinet that looks like America. I knew he was going to throw everyone under his bus eventually, but this really takes the cake.

Obama faces less pressure for diverse Cabinet

…does our first African-American president, elected with a rainbow coalition, have more of an imperative to appoint an administration that includes minorities in high-ranking positions?

Not really, is the answer supplied by a group of prominent African-Americans. Having a team of varied faces is preferable and in keeping with Obama’s pledge to represent all Americans — but these veteran black politicians and public officials say the president-elect should tap into the best talent available without taking a head-counting approach, in which slots are determined by demographics and symbolism trumps substance…To some degree, Obama’s election is so historic that he is post-racial when it comes to choosing those who will work most closely with him.

“He will assemble a Cabinet that I think reflects a modern-day array of talent,” said Rep. Artur Davis, the Alabama Democrat who endorsed Obama early in the primary. “I don’t think he has any special obligation to play the quota game to have so many blacks and so many whites.”

If he were Republican, however, he would be under close scrutiny.

Is it wrong that I laughed when I read that?

What, if he doesn’t appoint the Chicago Bulls starting lineup as his cabinet he’s a post racial genius?

And if Obama does not decorate the White House especially the Oval Office in 18th century Zulu motif (N’yow [his contraction for “you know”], crossed elephant tusks, zebra rugs, leopard curtains, spears & shields, etc.,) the media will declare him “Christlike in his acceptance of all peoples”?

    “Place a premium on qualification”?
“Tap into the best talent available”?
    “The times demand top talent”?
    “Good appointments speak for itself”?

It’s perfect that this POST is about post-everything, so I shall share my “Post-Turtle” joke…

While suturing a cut on the hand of a 75 year old rancher who’s hand was caught in the gate while working cattle, the doctor struck up a conversation with the old man. Eventually, the topic got around to Obama and his bid to be our president.

The old rancher said, ‘Well, ya know, Obama is a “Post Turtle”.

Not being familiar with the term, the doctor asked him what a “post turtle” was.

The old rancher said, “When you’re driving down a country road, and you come across a fence post with a turtle balanced on top, that’s a ‘post turtle.”

The old rancher saw the puzzled look on the doctor’s face, so he continued to explain, “You know he didn’t get up there by himself, he doesn’t belong up there, and he doesn’t know what to do while he’s up there, and you just wonder what kind of dumbass put him up there to begin with.”

Political speak for staying in the Good Ole Boy network, when making your selections.
Note too that there was no mention of naming a woman. This from the ” Party of Diversity”.

If this is the best policy for Obama, why shouldn’t it be the best policy for the country too? It’s time to end the racial discriminatory practice of affirmative action. Choosing the most competent and qualified for a position is obviously the best policy.

  8. helpunderdog says:

Oh, and of course the party of affirmative action doesn’t have to abide by affirmative action – everybody else does though.
