The part where we’re ‘distracted and obsessed’ by them. Or should I say bitter and clingy and rightwing extreme-ish? Not the part, of course, that was an insult to every police officer in the country. Not the part where he sent a message that there should be a separate and unequal application of the law to people of color. And certainly not the part where he did his best to intervene in a local law enforcement matter. Because that, of course, would be unethical and a sort of thuggery.

Obama regrets comments — sort of

At a gaggle with about 20 reporters at the White House Friday morning, Robert Gibbs said the president might not have made …

his comments on the arrest of Harvard Prof. Henry Louis Gates Jr. if he had anticipated the media’s fierce response.

“I think he would regret if realized how much of an overall distraction and obsession it would be” in the press, Gibbs said, adding that the president’s involvement with the issue is probably finished. “I think he’s said what he’s going to say on this.”

Yeah, well, he may be but we’re certainly not.

Also, let’s not forget the Messiah-In-Chief’s Special Olympics blurb a few months ago. This is the real Obama, who clearly learned from VP Joey B about shooting one’s mouth off.

    Obama is “the stupid one.”

The Cambridge Police Department just had a news conference wherein they fully supported the officer who arrested Gates Jr.. And, mentioned that Prez BO’s comments were “misdirected”. 🙂

LOVE!! that there hasn’t been and won’t be an apology.

(Our President is a complete ass.)

  4. From what I’ve been reading, it seems that the police acted properly and with integrity, as most of our fine police officers in this country do.

    I’m sure racism exists.
I’m just not so sure anymore who is keeping it alive-the police or the professor.

Since I am at work, earning an hourly wage to support the healthcare of the illegals, please let me know if Sharpton or Jesse Jackson show up with their ever-ready scripts on the newcasts…

    REGRET ? ME TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I regret ONLY when and if I GET CAUGHT.

Obama’s Waterloo aka the Government Health Care Plan was a lulu but this is good too.
I tried calling Crowley’s Station House but they did not answer the phone. Too many callers wishing the Capt. and Crowley well.

    On another note:
Actually Henry Gates was a well known, erudite scholar but he evidently has no common because he acted as arrogant as Obama does. I quoted his book in building African Centered Curriculum. Curriculum is not a WAR ZONE. Angry Blacks take over everything and ruin it for interested teachers . This was back in early 1990’s. The merits of studying Black Literature is enriching but Panthers and Obama type thugs like Rev. Wright turn it into a disgusting cess pool.
Reading Toni Morrison (Nobel Peace Prize in Literature) will give you a heads up on the total destruction of ” ANGRY REPARATION BLACKS.” The only thing Hip Hop generation etc. can understand is the rage.
Blind rage. Disgusting and unnecessary in the academic world that I worked in before retirement.

You know Larry Elder. What is his status? I miss him, since he left AM 790. I heard him today on Hannity’s radio show, and I note 1elder1 above. Is there a chance he will go “commando”, like you. I miss his voice terribly during these times.

    Thanks.

I miss Larry Elder’s show too; I am loving Mark Levin show in the time spot. I hope Larry has plans to come back to a regular program, radio or tv.

i’ve had my moments with the police- i’ve been arrested, i was the victim of bias based abuse at the hands of the police- i have no delusions that like in every other profession there are bad cops and sometimes truly innocent ‘criminals’ . i have lived most of my life in predominantly black high crime poor neighborhoods. however anyone of any ethnicity with a lick of sense – like a middle aged highly educated college professor should have-who has been in a confrontational situation with the police knows everything is going south that starts with ” yo’ momma” as a response to the query-” can we step outside and talk?”. and every sitting president of the united states should know you don’t open your big stupid mouth about such things- unless you’re just up to stirring up the you know what.

grow the f up man- you don’t sound street smart or like a civil rights warrior, mr gates- you just sound like a little b*#ch. not far from where gates has the good fortune of living and being protected by a police force that shows up when a crime is called in( not so far away in roxbury the boston police are notorious for not responding to situations in black neighborhoods with high crime rates) an unarmed latino father was knifed to death by a drunk white harvard student- and all the good professors of harvard did was whine about how this freak had to be let out on bail so he could write his thesis and then he got off with a namby pamby sentence that was later reversed. where were you then when the evil white devil got away with murdering a brown skinned man? wasn’t he one of the little people you care so much about protecting from the racism you see as inherent in the system?

  9. Maynard says:

I’m sorry to strike a sour note, but this was undeniably a case of profiling. Gates looked at the white cop and saw a white racist.

  10. Skippy says:

Yes, where is our voice of sensible reason here in Los Angeles Larry Elder? One faithful Elderada wants to know. Larry Elder can you please be our new President, Senator, Governor?

  11. KathyJo says:

I have to agree. Gates intentionally created this problem. Based on what I’ve read and heard, I think he saw an opportunity for notoriety, attention for his publishing, creating fodder for the next “scholarly” article he needs to get published in order to maintain his faculty position. Racism exists because people like Gates, Jackson and Sharpton perpetuate it, because without it, THEY would cease to be relevant. Why would Gates and his African American Studies courses be necessary if we were color blind? All of ’em would be counted in the unemployment stats.

  12. OneShotWataw says:

As all the smoke clears, it looks like Gates is just another black man with an attitude. The comments made by the Prez just affirm what most of us already know. Same crap – different day.
