What can we say about that video of children being taught to sing Obama’s praises in a public school?

There are countless examples of Obama’s cult-like following, although this incident is particularly disturbing because it involves children that don’t know any better. It’s creepy in a way that’s almost pornographic.

I’m remembering that Ashton Kutcher, Demi Moore, et al “Pledge” video. Here’s the whole thing (over 4 minutes!); this is the climax in which all participants pledge in unison to be “a servant to our president”, with the recitation closing on a view of the individuals morphing into a glorious head shot of Dear Leader. Elsewhere the video is filled with a potpourri of forgettable personal pledges, ranging from great to atrocious and stupid. But the driving theme is service to Obama; it begins and ends on that note, and that’s what you take away. Hence the controversy.

Is the word “cult” appropriate? Certainly something religious is going down. The songs and pledges sound like a church choir and repenting sinners. Except the praise is for Obama rather than Jesus. To revere a living person this way…this is an act characteristic of the extreme left; everyone else is repulsed. Can you imagine any conservatives teaching school kids to sing about Ronald Reagan, or pledging in unison to serve Reagan? Ridiculous! We appreciate Reagan for respecting us as individuals; there’s no Reagan cult, nor could there ever be any such thing.

Back to the school kids…The FoxNews report notes a line from the Obama lyrics (“He said red, yellow, black or white / All are equal in his sight / Barack Hussein Obama!”)  is more-or-less plagiarized from “Jesus Loves the Little Children” (“Black and yellow, red and white / They’re all precious in His sight / Jesus…”). Except we don’t allow public school kids to sing about Jesus. That’s against the rules.

Do you remember how Germany once adopted the “Hitler salute”, accompanied by the words “Heil Hitler”? I’m not saying this makes Obama another Hitler, but it exemplifies the fate of the culture that embraces the personality cult of its leader. Hitler’s strength was in part maintained from his accumulation of loyalty, not to the nation and its ideals, but to him personally. He could lead Germany astray because people demanded of each other that they not think; just follow the leader.

The iconoclastic freethinker Penn Jillette offers this YouTube editorial comment regarding the “Obama Pledge”. His remarks are raw and earthy (language warning!), but I pretty much echo his sentiments. By the way, Penn is an interesting guy, and if you listen to him for long, you’re guaranteed to hear something you disagree with strongly and/or you’ll be offended. And that’s just fine. I respect him for laying out his thinking, rather than reciting talking points or toeing the party line. He enters into the sort of challenging dialogues and arguments we ought to be having. The nation needs fewer servants and more honest thinking.

Since you brought up Hitler, I’m reminded that one of the many things he did was to extract a pledge of allegiance to Hitler personally from every member of the military. Not to Germany, but to Hitler himself. To German soldiers at the time, with their fierce Prussian history, that was a big deal.

He did the same thing with the Hitler Jugend, which turned schoolchildren into spies for the state.

What’s creepy about the video is its personal adulation of Obama himself. It’s not about the President of the United States and civics education. It’s about teaching kids to worship Obama.

    Mmmm mmm mmm.

Not only does it seem to rip off “Jesus Loves the Little Children”, but some of the lines (for example, “Hooray Mister President! You are number one!”) sound like they’re sung to the tune of “The Battle Hymn of the Republic” (“Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord…”).

  3. I sent that video to Hot Air about two months ago and they never ran it until Drudge put it out.
I am sending this one to you to see I you are smarter than the hotair people

This whole thing is a tad too “Kim Jung-Il – Dear Leader” for my liking. Totally creepy, but not surprising.

How Cute! Does any rationally thinking person really believe this vilest of manipulations is being done without the constribution of social engineers, architects of proganda, pre-conditioning specialists.
Why just use the Hitler Jugend? Look at the Red Guards of 1960’s to 70’s China, the ‘spitzels’ of the Soviet block who squeeled on their parents, the twelve year old village commissars of Cambodia under Pol Pot or recently the child-soldiers of Charles Taylor and other war-lords in Liberia and other locales of Western Africa.
Ignore this at the peril of your freedom.

I am appalled that we do not allow God in our schools, the schools in my area cannot even say the pledge of alligence, yet this garbage works. We cannot give up the fight. This is not about our future, it is about our children’s future.

Once I finish puking, I will continue my fight for the Constitution.

Folks, here is a young man who is making a statement and personal sacrifice about the wasteful spending the government is doing. He is planning on walking from the eastern tip of Long Island NY to the western most tip of Santa Monica CA. I ran into him in Augusta GA, where he is skirting along I-20 going west. He is deeply concern about the dept this government is accumulating and the effects on this and future generations it will cause. Please support him if you can, thanks!

Hellfire and Tamnation! We can’t let this kind of crap slide. I would expect children singing praises to a nations leader in Iran, Cuba, or China….but here? Creepy and frightening.

With the way things look today we better start to teach the kids how to ‘duck and cover’ rather than sing about Obama….. or maybe to ‘duck and cover’ singing the Obama song.

Although we took our son out of the public schools for high school and finished with home school, I wasn’t a firm believer in home schooling for elementary school kids. Until now. I used to think: “How much could the system screw up ABCs and 123s?”. Not any more. I applaud my daughter (and anyone else) for homeschooling her kids starting with pre-school and kindergarten!! I don’t want them (or anyone else for that matter) to be the next class to enroll in the Obama Youth society.

Why else is there such liberal hysteria about home schooling? You might teach your children things they don’t approve such as right and wrong, self-respect and respect for others, and that God might be the answer rather than the almighty government.

I was home schooled starting in 1977. It caused quite the stir. When I went to college I blew away the entrance exams. I have always supported those who want to home school, but until now I did not believe it was a necessity. I will support any who wish to home school, and if anyone needs help with subject matter, I will gladly donate my time to help.

    God Bless America.

I think we can look forward to an Obama Red Book, Obama morning exercises, Obama posters plastered all over the city walls, (oh wait, they are, the obamajoker) Obama statues, Obama uniforms. Makes me proud to be an American.
