A man who has no association with the Nevada Tea Party yet is running as the ‘Tea Party’ candidate for Reid’s US Senate seat, now faces felony theft and bad check charges in Las Vegas.

Despite this fakery, the headlines announcing his legal problems all involve the words “tea party” of course. While this guy may just be an opportunist, like the “violence” being exacted on Democrats, this sort of tactic could also very well be the result of leftist attempts to smear and distract Tea Party Patriots.

Nevada tea party candidate facing felony charges

A Nevada asphalt contractor who faces a legal challenge to his Tea Party of Nevada candidacy for U.S. Senate was hit Friday with felony theft and bad check charges in Las Vegas that allege he bounced a $5,000 business check last year.

Scott Ashjian is one of a record 22 candidates, including 12 Republicans, running for the seat held by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, who is seeking a fifth term…The tea party movement is a disparate coalition of conservative groups angered by federal spending, rising taxes and the growth and reach of government. Other tea party activists have been distancing themselves from Ashjian, and an ad targeting him has been sponsored by the Tea Party Express, one of the most visible factions of the national tea party movement….

Ashjian said he’s being targeted by unnamed people acting on behalf of the Republican Party.

“Clearly these people are afraid that I will siphon votes from their political party and from the Republican Party,” he said in a statement in response to the lawsuit.

Yes, and isn’t that exactly what the Left would like? At this point, however, it looks like whoever’s scam this way is over. But it won’t be the last one, so remain vigilant!

When I submitted this comment, there was some chit chat going on under another post where ppl were suspecting LibPlants inside the blog – guess we are all feeling a bit skeptical and on edge these days. Trust but verify. First amendment honored at TB.com. Thanks Tammy.

Well, I do think this blog has more Classical Liberals than some other generally conservative blogs. I think this is due to even liberals identifying more with the case for independence. As you know, my liberalism makes and appearance every now and then as well. Trolls, however, are another thing altogether. If you or anyone else suspects a troll (a liberal who is masquerading here and posts simply to provoke or irritate) do let me or Chris know. Liberals I have tolerance for, trolls I do not.
