A bit of what we expected, and a few surprises. First, South Carolina candidate for Governor Nikki Haley, the Tea Party fave, almost got over 50 percent, but didn’t quite make it. We had hoped she could win the Republican nomination outright but instead, in the field of 4 Haley got 48.9% of the and will face Barrett who got 21.8%.

Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas managed to fight off Bill Halter’s challenge for the AR Democrat senate nomination, with 52%-48% of the vote. As you know, and as I noted in the 3rd hour of Tammy Radio, most expected Lincoln to lose. Badly. This reminds us that nothing is a given and we must not take anything for granted.

One sweet thing about Lincoln’s victory tonight: it sticks it to the unions. White House official: ‘Organized labor just flushed $10 million down the toilet’ Hahahaha!

Meg Whitman was projected earlier as the Repub nom for CA Guv, while AP has projected Carly Fiorina as the winner of tonight’s Republican nomination for U.S. Senate. Fiorina is now officially Barbara Boxer’s opponent, and the Sarah Palin endorsement.

Whitman, Fiorina cruise to victories

Here are some links, and I’ll update as events warrant. In the meantime, please chime in on this open thread 🙂 We’ll discuss the details of what exactly happens tonight tomorrow on Tammy radio. In the meantime, here’s an open thread for the election.

UPDATE: Fox has just projected Tea Party candidate Sharron Angle the winner of the NV primary. She is now officially Harry Reid’s opponent!

Erick Erickson reports via Twitter “close friends of Gresham Barrett are working ferociously tonight to get him to withdraw from the South Carolina gubernatorial race” and “Repub. Governors Association Exec Dir Nick Ayers saying Haley is the nominee ‘notwithstanding the possibility of a runoff.'”

So there’s a distinct possibility Nikki Haley won’t have a runoff after all. There’s certainly a hope anyways. This transplanted Sandlapper could not be more pleased.

Getting back to my current domicile of Kalifornia, I did NOT vote for Whitman or Fiorina, since I am tired of holding my nose and voting for fake conservatives. Though my candidates had no chance of winning, my conscience is clear, and that feels good.

Don’t worry though. In the general election, I will pretend my vote is simply a vote against the Wicked Witch of the West and Charlie Brown, rather than it being for the same old sh.t the CA GOP has been trotting out for the past couple of decades.

However, it would sure be nice if moderate and liberal Republicans had to hold their noses and vote for my choices.

I like Sarah Palin, but shame on her for not backing Chuck Devore.

Can you remember another time when primary election coverage was “MUST SEE TV”?

So can Sharron Angle win the contest, or will she be regarded by the electorate as out of touch as Reid is? Obviously Reid is vulnerable, but only the right candidate can take it from him.

I really liked Fiorina’s speech last night. There is a strength and authenticity that was missing for me before this. Glad Whitman won. Looking forward to her being more comfortable on the stump as time goes on. I believe she has what it takes to turn CA around. Sure gonna be interestin’ for the next 5 months. 🙂

Boxer and Governor Moonbeam are in for a rude awakening. Can’t wait.
