I loved him. His human foster father Thomas Doerflein died a couple of years ago at the age of 44. I always wondered if that would affect Knut. They have no idea why he died, but there will be an autopsy on Monday. May both Knut and Thomas rest in peace.

I hate to hear this news – got a little teary-eyed. It’s turning out to be a very depressing day all around, isn’t it?
RIP Knut
I grew up in Colorado with the famous Klondike and Snow polar bears who were rejected by their mother as well and were raised by zookeepers. They were loved by Coloradoans and everyone adopted them helping pay for their care. It was hard when they were shipped off several years later to SeaWorld in Orlando, so I followed them and visit them regularly. (No I didn’t uproot my life for polar bears, I did it for something much more shallow: sun and heat!) So I can feel the pain of the Germans over the loss of their beloved Knut. RIP Knut!
Aww Knut, we’ll miss you 🙁
I am sorry to hear this and yes it has been a depressing day all around Artgal
