Here’s a couple classic examples of the Compulsion to Confess, or which in these instances may be termed “Freudian Slips.” This is the second ‘faux pas’ issued by McCain in a week. In his first one he attacked Romney for supporting earmarks. This one, well, listen for yourself. A pretty good sign why this man lost in 2008–liberalism and admiration of Obama combined with lack of having a grip. Truly, McCain’s approach with Obama throughout 2008 indicated, for some strange reason, that he had respect and admiration for the Chicago community organizer/ACORN lawyer. I think these ‘slips’ while on the trail for Romney are perfect examples of the Compulsion to Confess, reflecting both his hostility toward Romney and appreciation of Obama. And perhaps even a lingering malevolence toward us for his failure in 2008 and challenge for the Senate in 2010.
At his Monday endorsement rally of Romney, here’s what McCain had to say about earmarks:

If a John McCain endorsement is what Romney thought would be pushing him over the edge, he very probably is having second thoughts about that. I would guess you will also be seeing less and less of Juan McRino at upcoming Romney events.
They’re going to start questioning McCain’s mental state. And they may be right. So how ’bout that Nikki “Save me, Sarah” Haley, eh? Something tells me this will be a very bad career move for her.
