It seems that far too many people in public life (maybe private for that matter) stick a wet finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing and conduct their life in this manner. Thank you Scarlett for having the integrity to follow your convictions. I’m sure she is getting much hate mail and tweets. I, for one, will be sending her a tweet of support =^)

Actress Scarlett Johansson has stepped down as an ambassador for Oxfam due to the group’s support for a boycott of Israel.
A statement released by a spokesman for the actress said, “Scarlett Johansson has respectfully decided to end her ambassador role with Oxfam after eight years. She and Oxfam have a fundamental difference of opinion in regards to the boycott, divestment and sanctions movement.”
Johansson “is very proud of her accomplishments and fundraising efforts during her tenure with Oxfam,” the statement added.
During her time representing Oxfam, the actress traveled to India, Sri Lanka and Kenya to boost fundraising efforts and to raise awareness of global poverty.
Johansson became a target of pressure for pro-boycott groups after signing on to an advertising campaign for SodaStream, an Israeli company with a factory in Ma’ale Adumim, a Jerusalem suburb located over the 1949 armistice lines.
The Palestinian Authority claims all land east of the 1949 lines, and accuses Israelis who live in the area of illegally occupying the land. Pro-PA groups have pushed for boycotts of Israelis living east of the line as a gesture of support for PA demands….

Good for Scarlett! I love people who stand up for what is RIGHT even when other people tell them they are wrong. I say we should all boycott Oxfam. After everything Scarlett has done for them, for the past eight years, they have the NERVE to drop her? Morons!

problem is that I could not find a twitter account for Ms. Johannson. I just posted my support out into the twitterverse. If anyone happens to know of a twitter handle for her I would love to be able to use it. =^)
pamelarice, I couldn’t find a verified account for Ms Johannson, either. So, like you, I’ll just throw my support out to the twitterverse at large and hope that she gets wind of the support that she has. Who knows, maybe she’ll get a twitter account. 🙂
These BDS Israel-haters are all foaming at the mouth because of Scarlett’s upcoming Super Bowl ad. They don’t seem to care that many Arabs would be hurt if SodaStream closed down. Hatred can be very irrational….
Wow, Scarlett didn’t get the memo that to be a self-respecting American of Jewish heritage, you must express SHAME and OUTRAGE against Israel’s AGRESSION, Urgh! This begins to make up for her 2012 role as Hollywood Obamabot Barbie. I too will congratulate her for standing for the principles, all those turned against claim to represent.
Good for her, I first noticed her in the 2001 film “Ghost World” and had lost track of her in the following years. I think it’s great that she stood on principle and did not chase “$” signs, Congratulations Scarlett, keep up the good work…
