In the Rose Garden with The Jerk, he says he’s not running then unloads with a campaign speech. And he took shots at Hillary. The Democrats are a mess, and I’ll enjoy the continuing meltdown.

Big winner: Hillary, in part. But what he did today was say I’m out *for now* and when/if Hillary gets indicted he’s in.

Vice President Biden announced Wednesday he will not run for president, ending months of feverish speculation over his 2016 plans and likely settling the Democratic field.

Speaking in the Rose Garden alongside his wife Jill and President Obama, Biden said the window of opportunity to mount a viable campaign “has closed.” He has been weighing a decision since summer, but cautioned all along that he and his family were grieving over the loss of his son Beau Biden — and said Wednesday he knew that process could outlast the window for making a decision.

“Unfortunately I believe we’re out of time, the time necessary to mount a winning campaign for the nomination,” Biden said.

He added, “While I will not be a candidate, I will not be silent.”

Biden went on to urge Democrats to run on Obama’s record, while decrying the current partisanship in Washington.

The decision would appear to bolster front-runner Hillary Clinton — whom Biden had been urged by supporters to challenge as she grappled with slipping poll numbers and a widening scandal over her email use in her capacity as secretary of state.

Biden seemed to take a parting shot Wednesday at her and other Democratic candidates, after some suggested Republicans are their enemy at last week’s debate.

“I don’t think we should look at Republicans as our enemy. They’re the opposition,” Biden said, urging lawmakers to find “consensus.”

I am not a crooked candidate. You won’t have Joe Biden to kick around any more. The Check Her speech. Literally.

Presumably this means the Obama Justice Dept. will protect Hillary against prosecution, at least “for now”. Although I suppose there are plenty of precedents of candidates bouncing back from jail to leadership…Nelson Mandela and Adolf Hitler come immediately to mind. And now that I think of it, Hillary might find prison lifestyle rather agreeable, if any of those lurid drive-in movies from the days of my youth are to be believed.

Too bad, Joe. I was so looking forward to seeing you jackass-grinning Hillary under the debate dais as a display of your superior disputant prowess.

I’ve despised Biden ever since he, as Chairman of the U.S.Senate Judiciary Committee, publicly attacked both Robert Bork and Clarence Thomas during their confirmation hearings.

Biden staying out of the race would spare us one more idiot embarrassing Americans. Biden says he won’t be silent…means more theater to come. This man was nasty at those hearings and can’t keep his hands to himself. Just a real creep. Not a nice man.
