Well, I like the fact that he’s recognizing certain limitations, but then there is the ridiculousness that it also seems ‘international law’ only applies to us. At some point, we should look at what treaties and laws help us and which do not, and only an ‘outsider’ president will do that. But I’m guessing this statement will assuage certain nervous types.

Via The Hill.

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said Friday that he would not order the military to break international laws, despite calling for torture of suspected terrorists and the killing of their families.

Trump told The Wall Street Journal he would “use every legal power that I have to stop these terrorist enemies. I do, however, understand that the United States is bound by laws and treaties and I will not order our military or other officials to violate those laws and will seek their advice on such matters.”

“I will not order a military officer to disobey the law. It is clear that as president I will be bound by laws just like all Americans and I will meet those responsibilities,” he added.
His clarification comes after retired Gen. Michael Hayden, former National Security Agency and CIA director, said last week that the military would not have to follow orders that violate international law…

He pledged during the GOP debate to do things that were a “hell of a lot worse” than waterboarding and said he would authorize the military to kill family members of terrorists.

He also boasted that military leaders would listen to him.

“I’ve always been a leader,” he said. “I’ve never had any problem leading people. If I say do it, they’re going to do it. That’s what leadership is all about.”

From Noah Rothman at Commentary, who saying is not impressed with Trump would be an understatement:

No less a figure than former Air Force General and CIA Director Michael Hayden has warned that Trump is playing with fire. These were not merely rhetorical flourishes, as though such grotesque and vile thoughts should be dismissed as merely the fevered imaginings of an armchair strategist suddenly on the cusp of achieving real and appallingly corrupting power. No, Trump was flirting with ordering American soldiers – the men and women who serve their country in uniform – to commit war crimes for which they are personally liable and on which there is no statute of limitations. “If he were to order that once in government, the American armed forces would refuse to act,” Hayden warned. “You are not committed, you are not required – in fact, you’re required to not follow an unlawful order. That would be in violation of all the international laws of armed conflict.”

This man is UNFIT to serve as President, he’s worse the 0Bama, and that’s saying something.
At least 0bama is a smooth talking conman, Trump just yells at you until you’re so beaten down, you just sign the contract that includes the undercoat, fabric and clear coat protection.

Warning Paul Ryan to behave, more or less, is telling about Trump. How is he going to fire everyone in congress who says no? Not too sure about Trump’s knowledge of the Constitution
