You know my mixed feelings about President Bush, the negative primarily about the last 2 years in the White House. I will, however, be forever grateful for his immediate and long-term reaction to 9/11, and although I am furious with him over various political and policy decisions, I am sure this is a decent, good man who loves our country. You heard it in his voice then, and you hear it now.

I’ve avoided many 9/11 shows and the movies. As we approach the 10 year mark, it remains still so difficult. Yet, this is an interview and special I will be watching, in no small part because of my gratitude to President Bush and to be able to have the reminder that having a president who loves the country is not impossible and the very least we deserve.

Remembering 9/11: The George W. Bush Interview
Sunday, August 28 10pm

National Geographic Channel presents George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview, a world premiere documentary that reveals exclusive, first-person insight into the former president’s experience following the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001. In the most in-depth on-camera interview he has ever given on the subject, President Bush recalls what he was thinking and feeling and what drove the real-time, life-or-death decisions he faced in the first minutes, hours and days after the most lethal terrorist attacks ever on U.S. soil. Hear in unprecedented, intimate detail what he grappled with as both commander in chief, and as a man concerned for his family and fellow citizens. George W. Bush: The 9/11 Interview also takes viewers behind the scenes with extensive archival footage and exclusive materials directly from his library that open a new window into his personal experiences during that historic day that changed the face of America, and the world, forever.

Tammy: My some what defense I have for GW that runs contray to you. I think he was conservative but I think Rove pushed him left. GW was against homeland security and Campaign finance reform and maybe even the border on some ways but Rove wanted their votes. Also he had to let congress, Conservative and liberal controlled spend in order to keep the wars going, He was blackmailed so to speak. I think more of the problem we both have is he did not fight like Sarah would have. I am mad because he could have been great.

Dennis, there are no comments in the queue or in moderation, did you post a comment that wasn’t published?

      • dennisl59 says:

What I meant, is that no one has commented. I find that interesting since there was such a big build up to the program and all, ya know?

Anyway having said that, let me comment…lol…

Beef #1: I could not believe my ears that after almost 10 years, Bush referred to the Barbaric, Homicidal, Religious Maniacs as THUGS during the interview, and it was said quickly, like we wouldn’t notice. As if these humans were like pickpockets or they took your watch. WTH?

Beef #2: George Tenet, The Director of the C.I.A. This disgrace, who had this position during the entire ’90’s was the head of the agency that failed to detect and prevent the greatest attack on America in it’s history. Why Bush didn’t FIRE HIS A** publicly and with extreme malice I will never understand. Then “Slamdunk” Tenet tells Bush, ‘yeah, WMD’s in Iraq” Still Not Fired and THEN to add insult to injury Bush gives him the America Medal of Freedom Medal. I’ll tell anyone who’ll listen THAT was the moment I was DONE with Bush.

        Whew…feel better now. Thanks T!

This was such a good interview in so many ways. I was watching, and realized this feeling of relief I was having, just seeing my President show some genuine
EMOTION. It was an awful time, but gosh darn it, he was freakin’ AWESOME dealing with this horrible period in history, and he actually CARED about us and our beloved country.

Well I completely missed it, darn it. I’m sure NatGeo will show it again. I must say though, in these commments, I totally agree with dennis159 on Beef # 2. What a disgusting display of playing politics.
