The Citizens that testified this morning before the House Committee on the IRS Targeting of Conservatives are great American Patriots, standing up for everything that makes our country that “shining city upon a hill”.  They prove that it IS worth the fight and we CAN win to save this great nation for generations to come.

I checked out the MSM sites and as expected had to search for any mention on this testimony today. It is up to each of us to make sure the information gets out there; to our families, our neighbors, and our friends.

(from left to right): Mr. Kevin Kookogey, Founder and President, Linchpins of Liberty; Ms. Diane Belsom, Laurens County Tea Party; Mr. John Eastman, Chairman, National Organization for Marriage; Ms. Karen Kenny, San Fernando Valley Patriots; Ms. Sue Martinek, Coalition for Life of Iowa;  and Ms. Becky Gerritson, Wetumpka Tea Party.

Becky Gerritson Testimony: A Tea Party Patriot Who Received a Letter from Lois Lerner

“We peacefully assemble. We petition our government. We exercise the right to free speech. And we don’t understand why the government tried to stop us. I’m not here as a serf or a vassal. I’m not begging my lords for mercy. I’m a born-free American woman, wife, mother and citizen and I’m telling my Government that you’ve forgotten your place” …

The Democrat side tried to make light of the situation, blame Bush…the usual

Audience Cheers at Ryan’s Rebuttal to McDermott ‘I am going to deviate from my original question in response to what I just heard’

Applause rang out as Rep. Paul Ryan (R., Wis.) slammed Rep. Jim McDermott’s (D., Wash.) implication that the Tea Party and conservative organizations were responsible for their own targeting by the IRS Tuesday in the Ways & Means Committee hearing:

PAUL RYAN: I am going to deviate from my original question in response to what I just heard [lots of cheering].

JIM MCDERMOTT: Mr. Chairman? Mr. Chairman?

PAUL RYAN: Welcome to Washington.

DAVE CAMP: The committee will be in order, Ryan has the time.

PAUL RYAN: We heard Gingrich, we heard Bush.

JIM MCDERMOTT: Mr. chairman?

PAUL RYAN: We had the former IRS commissioner Shulman who knew about the political targeting long before was Congress was told, and has since implied that they were responsible for the targeting because they chose to apply for tax-exempt status? So you are to blame I guess is the message here? Do you think you were targeted based upon your political beliefs, your religious beliefs, or just because you chose to apply?

BECKY GERRITSON: Our beliefs. Our views.

From Hot Air:

Witness: IRS warned us not to protest Planned Parenthood. Sue Martinek not only named names, but also pointed out that this scrutiny predated the March 2010 start date that the Treasury IG found for the agency’s assault on conservative activists

Democrats failed to produce a single witness on the liberal side affected by IRS Scrutiny

The IRS took the app fee money and ran while creating delays in processing and using threats/bullying tactics to prevent actual status to be claimed on following tax returns.

Vague laws can be malignantly interpreted by people wishing evil. And political supporters including Congressmen can offer blowhard defense of; well it’s one view, others did it, who’s to say it was wrong, low-level staffers did it – management didn’t know, you’re racist. Plausible denial all around.

IRS targeting Tea Party groups confirms the governments level of fear and hate of these freedom loving groups. American people better wake up or they will be waking up to tyranny. Tyranny is knocking on our front doors.

Democrats in this hearing hateful and disgusting! ….just saying

Yes. And in today’s example of the MSM blaming Tea Party, Ezra Klein’s column is about; Partisans have hijacked U.S. politics. And who are these partisans; Soros?, Rove?, Chicago thugs? Noooo, it’s Michele Bachman, head of the Congressional Tea Party caucus.

This is one of those false causal relationship memes. Eg, Americans liked politics better in the old days, when party bosses made decisions in back rooms and that was that. Now, everything is open with the internet, twitter, 24 hr. cable news, etc., allowing people to run for political office (like Bachman) without the favor of the bosses, and Americans like politics less. Therefore, openness has allowed partisan hacks (like Bachman) to hijack U.S. politics away from what served the people best and people liked the best. Absolutely nothing to do with unemployment, economic growth, rule of law, nationalization of health care, international standing, no no no, nothing to see there.

Virginia’s Attorny General (running for Governor) won a medicaid fraud suit against Abbott Pharmaceuticals that Abbott paid last October to U.S. treasury. Virginia is to get approx. $125 million from that payment. But the IRS hasn’t filled out the forms, so Dept. of Treasury can’t release/give the money to Virginia. I’m sure that it’s oversight by some low level staff in Cincinatti.

I watched the hearing and will leave it to others to comment on the substance. I just want to say how proud I was to see regular Americans willing to come to DC and speak up. Having worked as a volunteer in the cause of the Right to Life, I know how scrupulous and careful one must be in making sure every i is dotted and t is crossed. Different groups are set up for different functions and the lines which separate educational and political must never be crossed. That may be easy for multi-million dollar groups, but when your office is really the dining room, and you are raising money via cake sales and luncheons, you can not afford to make mistakes, even innocent ones. To go to Washington to plead your case, knowing so many are against you and are willing to try to trip you up takes real courage. To know the glare of cspan will bring you into homes across the nation and your ability to present your case clearly, calmly and knowledgeably can lead to real stage fright. So praise the Lord, and pass the ammunition, we are going to win this fight. We’ve got steel-spined Americans on our side. We can do it.
