no we cant

Well, well… What a difference seven years make.

Remember when Obama promised the rise of the oceans would begin to slow?

But yesterday, he told us that the oceans will be soon rising up to four feet!

(Better tell Al Gore, who owns a $9 million Montecito oceanfront villa, to run for the hills!)

Via CNS News:

Speaking at an event held in a private home in San Francisco on Friday evening, President Barack Obama warned: “Well within our children’s lifetimes, on our current pace, the oceans go up maybe two, maybe three, maybe four feet.”

In the speech, the president said: “There are two things in particular that these days I’m spending a lot of time thinking about. The first is the changing nature of the economy.” The other, he said, is “climate change.”

He’s a fool, but whoever bagged the files on 18 million Feds already knows that and how to manipulate them. That doesn’t bother him.

Regarding Obama’s first topic; the changing nature of the economy. That refers to 2004 testimony to Congress by Jared Bernstein, a progressive economist, who currentlly is the Economic Policy Advisor for Biden. http://www.epi.org/publication/webfeatures_viewpoints_changing_economy_testimony/

Reading the testimony, it’s a mess. There are a few (very few) good statements in it, but they’re twisted so overall, horrible. One of his proposals concerns changing law on taxing overseas profits. I think that’s what Obama will go after. Never met a tax, he didn’t like. Also, this is likely a signal to labor that, see I’m progressive, so let up on dissing the trade deals.

Ran across a 2008 William Safire column on the word ‘inartful’. Obama, then Senator Obama, is given a central role in the column. Here’s one sentence: “The lexicographically unrecognized word was mantracized by the Obama staff — that is, made the campaign’s favorite locution in ameliorating awkward statements.” NYT doesn’t employ any William Safires anymore. http://www.nytimes.com/2008/07/20/magazine/20wwln-safire-t.html?_r=0
