Photos have been published in a French magazine showing Taliban fighters with trophies (guns, uniforms, helmets, etc.) taken from dead French soldiers. The soldiers were killed in an ambush last month. Eric de Lavarene, the journalist responsible for the photos, denies he was manipulated by the Taliban. Instead, he gives oblique praise to the Taliban for becoming masters of the art of communication. The deaths of these 10 soldiers—France’s worst single military loss in 25 years—has renewed calls to remove all French soldiers from Afghanistan. The mother of one of the dead soldiers calls on France to stop following the example of the arrogant President Bush. The Defense Minister Herve Morin suggested the magazine’s reporters had done the Taliban a favor in the propaganda war.

Taliban ambush trophy photos shock France

Eric de Lavarene, the journalist who arranged the meeting with the Taliban fighters and interviewed their leader, defended himself against accusations that he was manipulated by them.
“I wouldn’t say that. No one talks of propaganda when we set off embedded with NATO troops, yet information is always very tightly controlled on those occasions,” he said on i-Tele TV.
“However it is true that the Taliban have become masters in the art of communication,” he added.

Useful idiot journalists like Eric de Lavarene are masters of self-deception. The Taliban and other hatefilled zealots exploit the emotions of decent people by inflicting violence in spectacularly hideous ways to send a message. It isn’t the art of communication. It’s called Terrorism.

There is a reason why media is tightly controlled when fighting a war, it’s called operations security (OPSEC). Eric de Lavarene is a media tool/outlet for the Taliban terrorists. The families of the 10 dead soldiers need to get together and sue him for emotional distress.

This story is terrible, and the terrorist-sympathizer journalist a disgusting excuse for a human being, but I have to go just a tad off-topic and ask:

    WHY are there still Taliban?!?
