Omnia Hegazy Tackles Religion’s Rules, ‘Nervous’ About Her Safety
by Patricia on May 30, 2013A very brave young woman standing up against the horrors of sharia law and the inequities she sees in her Muslim religion. Raised in New York, Omnia Hegazy is trying to draw attention to issues in her homeland of Egypt. As Tammy has mentioned quite often – it will take the Women of the Middle East to change the backward, caveman mentality. From FoxNews: Pop singer Omnia Hegazyisn’t one to keep quiet about inequities she sees in her Muslim religion. The young artist is working to draw attention to issues in her homeland of Egypt that she says that many would rather ignore, while treading a fine line between critiquing her community and defending it. The New York-raised recording...

The Senate Censors: Feinstein Ends Her Inquisition of Kathryn Bigelow and “Zero Dark Thirty”
by Shifra on March 4, 2013**A Post by Shifra** Well, now that Kathryn Bigelow has been “punished” by the Hollywood Liberals – no Oscar nominations for her or for her film Zero Dark Thirty, and only one award (shared) for “sound editing,” Sen. Dianne Feinstein has called off the Inquisition, er, the investigation into the film, one day after the Academy Awards. Via WSJ. If Hollywood ever makes a film about the “Zero Dark Thirty” affair, it may stretch the credulity of audiences with even the lowest expectations of Washington. As no one should forget, Senators Dianne Feinstein, Carl Levin and John McCain wrote letters to Sony Pictures and the CIA charging that “Zero Dark Thirty” was a “grossly inaccurate and misleading” portrayal of the...

Political Bite Is Worse Than Political Bark
by Pat_S on January 16, 2011A post by Pat Oh dear, is that the growl of political incivility we hear again? It’s happening between Venezuela and Colombia so Sarah Palin is in the clear. Her critics can’t blame her without admitting she knows where these places are. We are all to feel chastised about volatile rhetoric because a terrible tragedy which had nothing to do with volatile rhetoric made the media hysterical about volatile rhetoric. It may be instructive to see how the problem is handled elsewhere. A Colombian T.V. soap opera depicts the relationship between two sisters, one named Colombia, the other named Venezuela. Venezuela is rather badly behaved. She has a dog named Little Hugo which also behaves badly. Some people allege the...

Juan Williams Rips NPR
by Pat_S on January 6, 2011A post by Pat The Left will probably consider Juan Williams’ remarks today on Fox as evidence that he does need a psychiatrist. He was asked about the resignation of Ellen Weiss, the NPR executive who fired Williams over voicing his concerns seeing Muslims on airplanes. It [NPR] has become very ingrown if not incestuous in terms of their perspective. She had executioner’s knife for anybody who didn’t abide by her way of thinking. I think she represented an ingrown culture in that institution that’s not open to not only different ways of thinking, but angry at the fact that Ii would even talk or be on Fox, angry at the fact that people have different perspectives and a conservative...

Perhaps The Best Bumper Sticker Of All Time
by Tammy on October 24, 2010(HT to TAM Maria for the pic 😉 I think we all remember the days when it was dangerous to express revulsion at Obama, dangerous to voice our contempt. Remember the shocked splash that was made when this poster showed up on a freeway on-ramp in Los Angeles? I’m proud to say the willingness to publicly ridicule Urkel started in Los Angeles with that poster. I love the bumper sticker featured in this post, and at Tea Parties I see so many other clever stickers and t-shirts. While these items may seem small compared to our problem, never underestimate the importance of speaking your mind or demonstrating your principles. It’s a very important part of social change. We will stand...

“Fair Elections Now Act”: H.R. 6116 – Public Funding
by Pat_S on September 25, 2010A post by Pat The same day the DISCLOSE Act failed, the Fair Elections Now Act, H.R. 6116, was passed out of committee. (5-2 no Republican support.) This bill is about public campaign funding. Candidates who opt for public funding would receive 4:1 matching funds for campaign contributions of $100 or less. They will also receive a 20% discount off the lowest broadcast rates. Their PAC money would be limited to $100 per individual per year. The candidate would have to raise $50,000 from within his own community to qualify. Matching funds are for in-state contributions only. The goal is to set up an alternative system of financing Congressional campaigns. Fair Elections funding would be available for primary and run-off...

Working Like a Dog
by Pat_S on September 6, 2010A post by Pat On Labor Day our President honored workers by vilifying business. Boiler plate Marxist rhetoric. Nasty fat cats exploiting people–the Marxist are going to end all that. Obama is working hard for labor and the fat cat “special interests” talk about him like a dog. Just a note on honoring workers in China. Government worker Zhu Jihong was exhausted from working extra hours on a park project when he fell to his death. Not from a bridge or a crane or anything like that. He fell off a toilet. Don’t ask me how but he suffered severe head injuries from the fall. He died of his wounds two days later. Because he was working overtime, on a...

Targeting Free Speech – H.R. 5175, The DISCLOSE Act
by Pat_S on June 15, 2010A post by Pat The DISCLOSE Act, an acronym for the egregiously misnamed “Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light on Spending in Elections Act”, is expected to come to a vote soon in the House. Proponents of the bill want to sell it as correcting the Supreme Court Citizens United decision regarding the First Amendment right of American corporations. President Obama took the unprecedented action of publicly scolding the Supreme Court for this decision during his State of the Union address. He called for legislation to prevent foreign companies from taking advantage of this ruling. The President’s alarm was itself a red herring as there is already existing law, the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1996, which prohibits independent political...

Kudos to a Brave Saudi Housewife
by Pat_S on March 31, 2010A post by Pat It’s a jarring dichotomy that poetry is highly regarded in a culture that dehumanizes women. In the Arab world, well known poets are treated like rock stars. One brave woman is rocking the boat with her poems. “The Milliion’s Poet” is a talent contest show like “American Idol” or the British T.V. “X Factor”, but for poets. The run-of-the-mill poetry heard on the show is about Bedouin Life, praising the glories of rulers or ruing the disparity between rich and poor. Hissa Hilal, a Saudi housewife, did something different. In a live broadcast across the entire Arab world, wearing her burkha, alone on stage, Hissa Hilal attacked hardline clerics as ‘vicious in voice, barbaric, angry and...

The Budget From Skull Cave
by Pat_S on January 30, 2010A post by Pat Skull Cave was The Phantom’s base Unlike many fictional costumed heroes, the Phantom does not have supernatural powers of any kind, but relies on his strength, intellect and reputation of being an immortal ghost to defeat his opponents. He is protected at home in large part by the Bandar pygmies, or “Poison-People”, whose fearsome reputation is enough to keep the uninvited out of his jungle. PC disclaimer: The cartoon character The Phantom just popped into my head when I read the following article. PC conditioning immediately kicked in cautioning me not to connect Obama to The Phantom. Even though The Phantom is an heroic figure, he lived in a jungle. In Africa. That’s problematic nowadays. The...

Hate Studies — Orwellian New Academic Field
by Pat_S on November 18, 2009A post by Pat The smart people are going to study and define hate then teach the kids how to be agents for social change. What could go wrong? Political Correctness was an amusing loony left notion in the beginning, giving male names to hurricanes, spelling “woman” “womin”, quirky things like that. It got seriously irritating when we had to drop Christmas for The Winter Festival, but PC kept rolling along. It continued getting worse over the years while we all learned to self-censor our thoughts and actions to the point of getting 13 people killed at Fort Hood. Sane people think it’s finally time to pull back from PC. The radicals think it’s time to kick it up a...

Lieberman: Congress Will Investigate Hasan’s Motives
by Pat_S on November 8, 2009A post by Pat The media slant on the Fort Hood massacre is a weepy focus on the mental health of our miltary. All of them. So much stress, so many suicides, so few mental health workers. This Fort Hood tragedy, they suggest, points out the heartbreak of what our soldiers must endure. The implications for the upcoming (but who knows when) decision on more troops for Afghanistan is not lost. Are our soldiers turning into wackos because of this hideous war? That’s where the media is taking the story about the massacre at Fort Hood by a shooter named Hasan. We know they have an uncomfortable problem with the facts and have to point away from it. Then along...

CNN: Talk Radio – Fairness
by Pat_S on October 21, 2009A post by Pat The last day of the series. Carol Costello examines the question of fairness. That Fairness Doctrine thing is long gone. Not even Obama wants that. Noooo. Localism, well that’s something else. Randi Rhodes demonstrates the liberal talk talent to speak out of both sides of your mouth without using your brain. She’s in the D.C. market but for cryin’ out loud, the conservative shows rule the airwaves even there. Randi insists that for the sake of diversity, there should be less conservative radio in liberal localities. That’s localism. On the other hand, she’d love to get a shot at conservative audiences. That’s fairness. Camille Paglia uses her brain and nuked the BS in one sentence. I...

The White House War on FOX — and Why It Matters
by Maynard on October 20, 2009A post by Maynard You’re aware of the White House war on FOXNews. The White House is calling on other news organizations to isolate and alienate Fox News as it sends out top advisers to rail against the cable channel as a Republican Party mouthpiece. …White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel told CNN on Sunday that President Obama does not want “the CNNs and the others in the world [to] basically be led in following Fox.” Obama senior adviser David Axelrod went further by calling on media outlets to join the administration in declaring that Fox is “not a news organization.” “Other news organizations like yours ought not to treat them that way,” Axelrod counseled ABC’s George Stephanopoulos. “We’re...

Fox Responds to White House Attack
by Pat_S on October 13, 2009A post by Pat The White House declared war on Fox News. Last night Fox responded. Journalists who were attack dogs against the Bush administration are at least raising an eyebrow over the White House statements. I think the concern is off the mark to criticize the administration for poor political strategy. The demographics of the Fox News audience are irrelevant. It isn’t an issue of differentiating news programming from opinion programming. This is a heavy-handed attempt by the government to suppress free speech. It is not a matter to be taken lightly when government attempts to intimidate news or opinion. Of all people, it is a T.V. critic who sees this for what it is. Of course a comparison...
