No comprende, hic
by Pat_S on July 14, 2010A post by Pat The New Jersey Supreme Court ruled drunken drivers who can’t speak English have to be informed about a breathalyzer test in a language they can understand otherwise their rights are being violated. Three years ago, German Marquez rear-ended a car. He was arrested for drunk driving and for refusing to take a breathalyzer test. Police are required to read a warning to suspected DWI drivers about the consequences of refusing the test. The police did read the 11-paragraph warning to Mr. Marquez in English, but he doesn’t understand English. Not fair says the NJ Supreme Court NJ Supreme Court says non-English speaking DWI suspects must know rights “In essence, reading the standard statement to motorists in...

Illegal Aliens in Utah “Wonder If Americans Are Being Given Preference Over Them.”
by Tammy on July 12, 2010What a concept! In a Pigs Flying moment, the state of Utah has decided to actually consider the full income of illegal aliens before throwing food stamps at them. You see, before this Utah wouldn’t consider the entire income of illegal aliens when it came to determining food stamp eligibility. Yet, for families in Utah that were actually comprised of American citizens, their full income was considered when assessing eligibility. Looks like the Days of Wine and Roses and Food Stamps You Really Don’t Deserve for Utah’s illegal aliens might be over. Bottom line: What Utah has done removes an incentive for illegal aliens to stay in this nation. We don’t need to discuss or consider something like deportation. Utah...

Milwaukee’s Cuckoo Nest
by Pat_S on June 26, 2010A post by Pat You’ve most likely heard about Milwaukee County Board member Peggy West’s remarks that Arizona isn’t on the border so what’s with that SB 1070. She said Arizona was “a ways away from the border” and then said there must already be troops on the Arizona border because she googled and saw Gov. Brewer talking to the President. It’s reported that West later clarified her remarks. Heh heh of course she knows Arizona is on the border it’s just that the Arizona border isn’t as long as the Texas border. So did she mean Arizona was a ways away from the eastern border of Texas? County Board Delays Vote on Arizona Boycott “I did get a passing...

Mexico looking for PR firm to improve country’s image
by Pat_S on June 17, 2010A post by Pat Mexico is looking for a PR firm to help improve the country’s image. Tens of thousands of people have died in drug related violence since Pres. Calderone declared war on the cartels. Beheadings, kidnappings, torture, murder, all this is bad for the tourist industry. The drug cartels once struggled with an image problem too. When dropping their victims in vats of acid didn’t get them a reputation shocking enough, they choose the PR firm of al-Qaeda and switched to beheadings. (Why are beheadings so popular with Mexico’s drug gangs?) The U.S. State Department says millions of U.S. citizens visit Mexico safely every year. It’s a matter of staying away from the bad places and sticking to...

No Reason To Build That Wall #1,793,007
by Tammy on June 8, 2010How is Governor Jan Brewer protecting the citizens of Arizona? Let me count the ways. Bodies With Hearts Cut Out Found in Mexican Cave Even in the midst of a drug war that has left thousands dead, this was a particularly gruesome discovery: six bodies in a cave, three of them with their hearts apparently cut out. That is what police in Mexico found Sunday, in a natural cave just outside the resort town of Cancun…In the U.S., Cancun is probably best known as a vacation spot, but recently it has become yet another backdrop for Mexico’s increasingly violent battle against the drug cartels. The city is home to high-profile murders, drug-related violence and human smuggling. And it is becoming...

Es uno de nosotros – (You’re one of us)
by Pat_S on June 3, 2010A post by Pat Some Arizona legislators teamed up with Mexican legislators to challenge S.B. 1070 in international legal forums. The conference received considerable coverage in Mexico, virtually no coverage in U.S. media. Mexican senators, local officials formulate plan of opposition against SB 1070

L.A. Students to Be Taught AZ Immigration Law Un-American
by Tammy on June 2, 2010Now that Los Angeles is officially a failed “Sanctuary City,” having to close at least twice a week because there’s no money, the school district has turned to more important matters. Like politically indoctrinating their students. 73% of whom, as revealed in this story, are “Latino.” Now last time I checked, Los Angeles was not a 73% “Latino” city. Which means three out of every four students are likely illegal aliens. So now property taxes, paid by citizens, are officially going to educate primarily illegal aliens from Mexico, and with a school program which would openly implement political indoctrination. Atlas is in the process of shrugging and Los Angeles has better think real quick what they’re gonna so with all...

Avoiding SB 1070
by Pat_S on June 1, 2010A post by Pat The media is full of alarm that SB 1070 is causing illegals to leave Arizona. It’s as though it’s an unforeseen downside to passing a law which, the media is convinced, was created with the mean-spirited intent to harass Hispanics. The media sympathy for illegals is so overpowering they lost sight of the fact, if they ever could have comprehended it, that Arizonans actually think fewer illegals in their state is a desirable outcome. Impact of immigrants’ exodus from Arizona debated The exodus of illegal and legal immigrants predicted by some as a result of Arizona’s tough new immigration law is expected to hurt a variety of businesses that directly and indirectly cater to immigrant populations....

Feds Issue Terror Watch for the Texas/Mexico Border
by Tammy on May 26, 2010Thank goodness Holder is thinking of suing to stop Arizona’s new law which would find people who cross into this country illegally! Oh, wait… Feds Issue Terror Watch for the Texas/Mexico Border The Department of Homeland Security is alerting Texas authorities to be on the lookout for a suspected member of the Somalia-based Al Shabaab terrorist group who might be attempting to travel to the U.S. through Mexico, a security expert who has seen the memo tells FOXNews.com. The warning follows an indictment unsealed this month in Texas federal court that accuses a Somali man in Texas of running a “large-scale smuggling enterprise” responsible for bringing hundreds of Somalis from Brazil through South America and eventually across the Mexican border....

Your Saturday Arizona Read-The-Law Sing Along
by Tammy on May 22, 2010When Kermit the Frog and the Cookie Monster would do a better job running the country, you know we’ve got a problem. The good news is Jan Brewer of Arizona is shocking the establishment, a la Sarah Palin, by not breaking down and surrendering. Instead, she’s doubled-down and on the offensive. Here’s her new ad for Arizona noting that the Growed-Ups in Washington could use a little lesson on Reading Fundamentals. Bonus: who knew Sock Puppets had so many expressions?!

Brewer to Obama: Send Guard Choppers From Other States
by Tammy on May 21, 2010A good idea. I also like the fact that Brewer and AZ isn’t just pointing a finger at Obama demanding action, she’s giving him a battle plan. No excuses for him to not act. Ariz. gov.: Send Guard choppers from other states Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer is asking President Barack Obama to reallocate National Guard helicopters from other states to help Arizona secure its border with Mexico. Brewer made the request in a letter to Obama dated Thursday and released Friday. She says Arizona only has four OH-58 Kiowa helicopters available for border missions because some choppers are deployed overseas and others are reserved for training missions. Brewer requests that additional helicopters be freed up from training missions or taken...

“We Are Defined by our Bonds”
by Maynard on May 20, 2010A post by Maynard You’ve heard Obama’s proclamation that America isn’t defined by borders. This might make sense in a broad philosophical contemplation, but it’s weird and dangerous when uttered in the context of a speech addressing the real problem of illegal immigration. I haven’t heard anyone comment on the irony of the second part of Obama’s sentence: “In the 21st century, we are defined not by our borders, but by our bonds.” Look up “bonds” in the dictionary: The first definition: 1: something that binds or restrains : fetter You know, as in “bondage”. That certainly captures the spirit of the era. I guess Obama would say he didn’t mean it that way; he meant the fourth definition: 4:...

Wolf Blitzer Questions Mexican President Felipe Calderon
by Maynard on May 20, 2010A post by Maynard Here’s an excerpt from the transcript. I could editorialize, but it pretty much speaks for itself. BLITZER: All right. Let’s talk a little bit about Mexico’s laws. I read an article in “The Washington Times” the other day. I’m going to read a paragraph to you and you tell me if this is true or not true. This is from “The Washington Times”: “Under the Mexican law, illegal immigration is a felony punishable by up to two years in prison. Immigrants who are deported and attempt to reenter can be imprisoned for 10 years. Visa violators can be sentenced to six year terms. Mexicans who help illegal immigrants are considered criminals.” Is that true? CALDERON: It...

Contemplating Arizona
by Maynard on May 17, 2010A post by Maynard The situation in Arizona is pushing everyone’s buttons. As we get drawn into various skirmishes, let’s not lose sight of what the war is about. Fact 1: One of the primary responsibilities of a national government is to control its borders. A nation without borders isn’t a nation. The American government is doing plenty of stuff that a lot of us think is none of its business, but it fails to do its most basic job. Fact 2: A big majority of Americans realize that Washington isn’t controlling the border, and we see this as a serious problem. This opinion crosses party lines and ethnic differences. We the people are largely in agreement that the status...
