**Bumped Up from TAM Wire**

A Post by TX Soldier

As prices go up and Real after Double Tax Wages go down far fewer people will eat at Denny’s.
Great, now more Wagon Riders and even fewer Wagon Pullers. At some point, the Pullers give up and sit down.
Hard to tax people who have nothing left to tax.

Note from Tammy: This sort of thing, in addition to inflation, is really going to impact things. This is the Obama legacy, a Scorched Earth policy that might not kill business but makes it even more difficult to keep it going. The impact on employees and customers, as with all regulations, will be massive. I understand businesses needing to do this to adapt. I blame the Dumb Bastard and his minions. Did they not consider this would happen? Obama may in fact be deliberately forcing us into becoming a ‘Part-Time’ nation, hoping the super-majority of Americans will become a ‘Coalition of the Poor,’ perpetually reliant on government to make ends meet.

PS: I love Denny’s, especially their Moons Over My Hammy sammy.

President Obama’s election victory ensured his Affordable Care Act would remain the centerpiece of his first term in power – but that has left some business owners baulking at the extra cost Obamcare will bring.
Florida based restaurant boss John Metz, who runs approximately 40 Denny’s and owns the Hurricane Grill & Wings franchise has decided to offset that by adding a five percent surcharge to customers’ bills and will reduce his employees’ hours.

With Obamacare due to be fully implemented in January 2014, Metz has justified his move by claiming it is ‘the only alternative. I’ve got to pass on the cost to the customer.’

The fast-food business owner is set to hold meetings at his restaurants in December where he will tell employees, ‘that because of Obamacare, we are going to be cutting front-of-the-house employees to under 30 hours, effective immediately.’

‘I think it’s a terrible thing. It’s ridiculous that the maximum hours we can give people is 28 hours a week instead of 40,’ said Metz to the Huffington Post.

‘It’s going to force my employees to go out and get a second job. ‘Obamacare requires businesses or franchises with more than 50 workers must offer an approved insurance plan or pay a penalty of $2,000 for each full-time worker over 30 workers.

The program mandates that only employees working more than 30 hours a week are covered under their employers health insurance plan, chains like Olive Garden and Red Lobster are already considering reduced worker hours.
‘Obviously, I’d love to cover all our employees under that insurance,’ said Metz.

‘But to pay $5,000 per employee would cost us $175,000 per restaurant and unfortunately, most of our restaurants don’t make $175,000 a year. I can’t afford it.’

This is one franchisee, not the entire Denny’s empire. Perhaps more will follow. The Left could use this to push for single payer.

I found the 2010 employee health insurance options for Denny’s employees.

    Not good enough for Obama?

This is from the website of the insurance company underwriting Denny’s health package (at least it was in 2010).

    What The Election Means
ObamaCare will continue to barrel toward implementation in 2014, but its failings will become clearer and clearer every day.
The law is in diametric opposition to the workings of our economy and the spirit of freedom on which this country was founded. This is not a political assessment but rather a recognition of the reality of the unworkability of the law — its mandates on otherwise free citizens who will resist, massive new entitlement spending we can’t afford, and centralization of decision-making over health care, even life and death decisions.

Tammy asks, “Did they not consider this would happen?” The answer is yes, not only did they consider it, they planned on it. Obamacare is designed to cause businesses to creak under its burden (didn’t Carville say that explicitly in an interview?); as businesses become increasingly creaky and another crisis looms, the political pressure will mount for “single payer” to “solve” the problem. Like Obamacare, this will be done in an urgent rush, and it will be another big mess, but it doesn’t matter; the framework of government control will have been set in concrete, and the lefties will figure they can then tweak it for the rest of eternity.

The irony is that this comes from the people that have, over the years, screamed for choice and more choice. But at the end of the road, they’ve taken all the choices away. Except, of course, for that one choice to abort your baby; that’s all we’ll have left. Wonderful world we’ve built here.

The 2010 Denny’s health ins. option had 4 different plans. I doubt that the lower two options, the basic and the value plans, meet O-care requirements. After HHS Secretary See-bellious finishes with her determinations, questionable if the two high option plans will meet the law. That free contraception is about to get very dear. And not in a good way.

i can only hope the employers who take these measures due to obama getting re-hired… TELL THE EMPLOYEES: you’re getting cut to 30 hours because of obama, you’re getting laid off due to obama, etc.

i will patronize any establishment who states that (has denny’s really said that???) “we are charging 5% extra to pay for obamacare.” any such truth stated, they will get my business. BRING OBAMA’S SHIZZ ON. LET THE LIBS HAVE WHAT THEY VOTED FOR. they thought only we were gonna get screwed. SURPRISE!!!!

I do enjoy the convenience of Denny’s, and my occasional visits are pleasant. But one must choose very carefully from the menu; it’s not exactly health food.

Which reminds me of an unfortunate incident during Obama’s campaign. Seems that Obama tried to show he was just another regular guy by stopping for a meal at the local Denny’s. It happened to be his birthday, so he did that regular American thing of asking for his special birthday meal. But the event went badly awry when Denny’s turned him down after he couldn’t produce a birth certificate.
